Trade Idea( I came up with it out of the blue)
Well i just thought of a trade idea out of nowhere and it doesn't sound rediculous
Here go's...
We all know that New Jersey sucks and that they want the #1 pick and LeBron. Also John Wall is a PG/SG like Harris. Plus We know that JJ is a FA next year and will cost big $ to bring him back( although i think we very well could)
So the trade go like
We give NJ Teague or Morris and 1st round picks in 2010 and 2011in return we get Devin Harris( 8.4 million this year, but his salary will sky rocket soon)
It makes sense from both sides we get an all-star SG/PG and NJ gets a good yong player and picks, and they dump Harris' cash so they can pay John Wall( who they will draft if they win lottery) and they hav surplus money to get LeBron in FA
Whatcha think of this proposal?

this gets me thinking
this is really interesting, but i’d rather trade like JJ and our picks for the first pick, that way the nest get an expiring contract and can sign more players, and the hawks get the next big thing, which hasn’t happened since….. ever……. plus i think devin harris is a little injury prone, but i would LOVE to have him, an extremely quick fast PG that can push the ball. one of the few players that can have a one man fast break, but again, he is injury prone, plus what the hawks need are shooters also. John Wall is still young and shows good shooting touch. the one downside is that there is no way of knowing whether the nets are going to get the first pick or not, how many last seeded teams have actually gotten the first pick? Not many i suppose…. but even if they get screwed and we trade, we’ll still get a promising productive rookie. May be we can trade for a lesser pick then trade marvin for something then get some atlanta natives… FAVORS AND AMINU, no but that was sort of a joke, but it’ll be fun to watch it it actually happened. It would be billy knights heaven to see all those athletic 6’9" forwards. but josh, favors, and aminu….. i would really like to see that.. haha….. but by being a hawks fan i have to hope for what’s best for them, not what i want to see.
There's no way we get the first overall pick.
So basically, we aren’t getting Wall. In order to even spark their interest, we’d have to include Josh Smith, Al Horford, and our picks this year and perhaps next year. And trading Smith + Horford would mean rebuilding. And we’re not going to rebuild even if he is John Wall.
the thing is
even though john wall is the next big thing, he is a PG and PGs usually take time to develop, even chris paul didn’t have the most amazing season his rookie year, even though it was damn good for a rookie. Devin Harris is still young, but he has proven himself in the league and he can still improve. They are trying to get LeBron more than anyone, and they can’t do that unless he wants to go there. Think of a team with Brook Lopez, Yi Jianlian, LeBron, Joe, and Harris, that team would seem really favorable for LeBron, or if joe doesn’t resign they can sign like chris bosh or someone. They have CDR and Courtney Lee, who aren’t all stars but can still be good enough to start. If JJ does resign they still have enough money under the cap to sign other players after they sign LeBron. if they get J wall, they can play a 2 PG set, but whats the point of that when both JWall and Devin Harris have great trade value, the only thing is… It seems a bit unfair to have wall and lebron on the same team……… so that’s why i wanted wall somewhere else… but lebron will probably go to a place with a better market… he wants to be a billionaire….
There is absolutly no possible way thats happens. JJ will be a FA, and teams that have the first overall pick would rather have the best prospect in the nba rather than 2 first round picks( that will probably be in the 20’s) and an older SG. Absolutly no way! Especially when it’s John Wall a once in a LeBron prospect
The post was about Devin Harris not trading for the #1pick

yeah i know
but i just like introducing any possibility to get some minds turning…. imagination is a great thing… it’s just a dream, but i said earlier that even if we trade JJ for a pick, then it won’t be a guaranteed pick, and what i was basically trying to say is that JJ has a lot of trade value right now, he’s an all star with an expiring contract…
they still have enough money under the cap to sign other players after they sign LeBron.but lebron will probably go to a place with a better market… he wants to be a billionaire….
LOL.Good luck with that.
You actually think ‘market’ dictates whether or not Lebron will be a billionaire?!….cmon. Wake up and smell what you’re shovelin’ Lebron will be a billionaire if he went to play in Lichtenstein…Makes no difference where he plays. It’s who he is, not where he is. That tired -ass reason has been put to bed a loooong time ago. And where he is now…is where he has a chance to build a dynasty. Not the ‘we don’t even have a blog Nets.’ or the Knicks. If he left I could see him maybe attempting to make it work with the Heat…but other than that, most likely he stays right where he should…

dude
it’s not just about LeBron being who he is…. If he went to New York how many more fans would he have? I mean, LeBron even said he wanted to go to New York because of the exposure. Also i’m not so sure he’s staying in Cleveland. Think of this in his perspective. Sure ohio is his hometown and he has great home town pride, but he always travels anyways. Plenty of players live in one state while playing for another. Also, his home town is Akron, not Cleveland. Not only that, but why would he want to stay in a team with a bunch of 30+ year olds. Who on the cavs have any potential for the future? The Nets have the money to sign LeBron to the money that he wants and another allstar, but not only that, but they also have a young core of players FULL of potential. Why wouldn’t LeBron want to go there? Well i can name one, because it’s in New Fucking Jersey. Why were they going to move their franchise to brroklyn? BECAUSE THATS WHAT LEBRON WANTED. If it didn’t have anything to do with the market, he would just stay at new jersey…. It’s not like new jersey is 328938 miles away, it’s REALLY close, and he could basically live in new york if he wanted to, may be it’s more convenient to live in New York while playing for the Knicks, but would it matter if he was winning? He’s going to the place where there’s a great future for him. In New Jersey he would have a great starting line-up with a deep bench and promising rookies. it’s the perfect place for him. Not only that they will have a early draft pick which will get them, with the right choices, another good young player. Jersey would be the perfect place for him, only if it wasn’t in Jersey…. His best friend OWNS THE TEAM…….. i don’t see what you don’t understand…. What other reason is there that he wouldn’t go to the Nets?
His best friend OWNS THE TEAM
I wouldn’t say paying reported $4.5 million for his share makes him the ‘owner.’
Not only that, but why would he want to stay in a team with a bunch of 30+ year olds.
The Cavs average age is 30.2 That’s not exactly old.
it’s more convenient to live in New York while playing for the Knicks, but would it matter if he was winning?
Well, winning matters because both the Nets and the Knicks are years away from contending at this point. Even with Lebron he’s essentially moving backwards by about 3 or 4 years.
In New Jersey he would have a great starting line-up with a deep bench and promising rookies
I beg to differ. 4 wins is not a great starting line up with a bunch of promising rookies. A high draft pick isn’t going to change that.
Who on the cavs have any potential for the future?
Daniel Gibson
Daniel Green
J.J. Hickson
Delonte West
Jawad Williams
LeBron even said he wanted to go to New York because of the exposure
‘Liking’ new york is different than wanting to play basketball for those two franchises. Hell, I’m sure he likes LA too…but I highly doubt he wants to play for the Clip Train.
Anyways, sure, I see you point to a certain extent. …there’s a possibility he leaves. I just think winning is his top priority, and the best prospect of that occurring is on the Cavs.

... what...
Sure they have 4 wins, but they have much potential and idk why you can’t see that… Brook Lopez is a second year all star center.. Devin Harris is a young athletic PG that is a good defender.. Yi Jianlian still has a lot of potential and offensively he’s pretty talented. They have Terrence Williams, who hasn’t been doing well this season, but he still has a lot of potential. They had like 34 wins last season, but because they had vince carter. With an addition of LeBron and another all star, that’ll increase to at least 45, then with a high draft pick, which will most likely be John Wall, the Nets can surely take it to a final contention level. I’m pretty sure they can win 50 games if they just added LeBron, and none of the players you mentioned have any real potential. Sure they’re young, but they are most likely just going to be role players. Delonte West is injury plagued and he’s already 27. I don’t see much potential there. Jawad Williams is a no name undraftee. Danny Green was a second round pick who doesn’t really have potential either.. the only person with potential is JJ Hickson, and he doesn’t have much. How can you think that the players on the cavs have more potential than Harris, Lopez, Jianlian, Williams, CDR, and Courtney Lee AND a top 5 draft pick, which will most likely be John Wall. Plus they have a deep front court already with Boone and Humphries, who can be great big men off the bench. They have a hustle player in Najara. I can see them make the playoffs next year. They have enough money to sign 2 all stars. LeBron they can sign an allstar or good contributor, AND draft a GREAT prospect. If LeBron goes to NJ, what does he have to lose? The only problem they have is their coaching and possibly player motivation. Is he stay on the cavs soon they’ll be a lottery team. Do you think JJ hickson can take over for shaq and ilgauskus? they are 37 and 34. No way they are lasting too long, which means the cavs are going to get worse every year. They didn’t win a championship last year, and i can’t see them winning one this year. Even if they do, there’s probably no way of doing it again next year. Though he wants to win, he also wants to leave his mark on history. A back court of Varajao and Hickson is just not good enough for that. Also, shaq and ilgauskus will become free agents. Do you really think Cleveland will sign players that are nearing the end of their careers, and even if they do, i don’t think they can resign shaq and they can’t sign any other free agents unless they use the mid-level exception. There is no future in Cleveland. In new jersey, they’ll have lebron and harris who can penetrate and draw fouls, harris will do much better, as he did when he played with carter because teams won’t just double team him. Things will open up for Lopez, and the lane will be open for Lopez, James, and harris, and possibly Wall because of Yi’s three point range, and the average age is actually 27, which is actually pretty old. they are like the top 5 in age. spurs have like 30-31 and you should know how old they are. Anyways, what i meant is that their key contributers are old and the players that are young don’t have much of a promising future. a starting lineup of Harris, Courtney Lee, LeBron, Yi and Lopez seems very respectable with a deep bench. It is deep because some players would have been developed and Boone and Humphries were at one point starters. They are good bigmen who defend and rebound. They also have good size. If the Nets draft Wall or another Bigman such as like Aldridge, then they can be a championship contender within the next year. Lopez, Harris LeBron would be allstars, and the rookie would probably be a potential Rookie of the year in a auspicious draft class. I don’t see why he wouldn’t come to new jersey if it was all about winning. YOU tell me how that lineup wouldn’t work, AND as i said, they still have enough cap room to sign another allstar, depending on how stingy LeBron is. I think the nets are in the best position to turn things around.
Nope, sorry
I like the idea of trying to “tweak” the roster considering Bibby’s age, and my lack of confidence in Jeff’s game thus far. However, we do not need Harris. Instead, we must address the obvious, we need a true big man! I love Horfords effort, but he’s not a center. Bibby,J.J., Josh,& Al are great starters, just need a good Center, eg., Brad Miller, Camby(expiring contract). And the list goes on. Not to mention, Devin doesnt have the mind-set of a Point Guard. He is perfectly suited for a go-nowhere squad that just needs points. Let him stay in N.J., respect due to the kid, but we need to get to the next level, not become a lottery team again…PEACE
you're an idiot
Our defense is good because of Horford and Smith, so our big men are fine. They are going to be the backbone of this team, but sure i’d like a big man so i could see horford play the PF position every once in awhile, but to say you’d rather have camby or miller over horford absolutely infuriates me. You know nothing about the hawks, and you have no loyalty to the hawks players, and how can you say Devin Harris belongs on a Go-nowhere team… A lot of people said that the mavericks were much better off keeping devin harris than getting Kidd. You obviously don’t watch much basketball or don’t know much, and how the hell are the nets a go-nowhere team. With the tools that they have, they can be a play-off team in a couple of years even without signing a free agent this year. They just need better coaching and a better defense. Ok, but back to Horford. He is an all star this year, and it’s obviously not because of his offensive skills because if it were, then david lee would have been chose over him. Horford is an all star because of his DEFENSE. If you don’t like his defense, then you can’t get much better than all star defense. If you’re complaining about rebounds and points, not many centers can get as many rebounds or points that horford gets night in and night out. I do not see where your problem is. How the hell would you want brad miller over horford. i can understand camby at least a little, but why would you want a 34 year old center over a 3rd year center that has many prosperous years ahead of him. Better yet, camby is 36! Horford gives us an offensive presence and defensive. Camby just gives a defensive presence, and maybe his defense is better or more intimidating, but i would rather be good at both, and we can sign him if his contracts expiring anyways. He’s not worth more than the veterans minimum. Our problem comes with our HORRIBLE perimeter defense that is covered up EXTREMELY well by our big men. Look elsewhere because you, sir, are looking in the wrong direction.
NO WAY !!!!!
I’d rather have teague, Harris doesn’t make us better and he needs to shoot to be effective, I like Bibby/Teague, Bibby should retire a Hawk, after we win the championship. And then Teague take over from there
