Angry fire of a million Zaza Pachulia's
Lets be clear. It was the fourth quarter. That outcome was all the fourth quarter, and it was horrible. Tim Legler-esque. Worst loss of the year folks. Break deep.
I am too mad to write now, but I have my guys to blame. Just need to sleep on it, but I will give you a hint. One of them was in a suit.
Until tomorrow, I am going to break most of the things in my kitchen with the anger of a million Zaza's.

ZAZA,MARVIN, AND TEAGUE
Are all as worthless as sex without ejaculation
Marvin and Teague
Were just as bad. Bibby gets a pass I don’t expect anything from him.

Yes
Teague is borderline retarded, he has not ran a successful pick and roll all year
by Truthspitter on Feb 21, 2010 11:03 PM EST up reply actions
Take a pill and go to bed because you obviously didn't witness the same game we did
Teague was NOT the problem.
Just because
I don’t agree with you does not mean I didn’t watch game. You are absent of basketball IQ just like the team
by Truthspitter on Feb 21, 2010 11:07 PM EST up reply actions
Have you ever noticed that people on this blog tend not to comment on your posts?
That’s because they’re always negative and borderline psychotic.
Teague had the same number of assists as Joe and Jamal combined
and he played a third of the minutes. Did you watch any of the game?
@cocoqt81
Yes
The entire game. Did not think I would be posting tonite as I enjoyed the 3rd and was sure it was a win until the Hawks decided to put our bench in including Teague and we gave up 10 pts on cue
by Truthspitter on Feb 21, 2010 11:06 PM EST up reply actions
agreed
=woodson putting teague in= a 16 point run. woodson taking him out for bibby= the dam warriors winning.
When Woody took him out in the fourth for Joe
they had a 12 point lead. It all went downhill from there. If you list the top 25 reasons the Hawks lost Teague would not make it, at least not in a negative way.
@cocoqt81
Maybe..... just maybe
Maybe the disparity of play between Teague and Bibby, which caused us to blow a lead, will get Black Kojak to give Zero Wing more minutes.
It could be a blessing in disguise (desperately searching for bright side).
Jeez, I barely saw any of it, but I know the bench wasn't in for the run that lost the game!
Truthspitter, where has the truth gone?

That was the worst loss of the last 4 years.
I can’t remember one that bad. I am sure worse teams have beaten the Hawks in that time span (although not many), but that was just pure awful.
That was very painful
but we’ve had worst e.g. losing to the knicks twice at home.

While this loss was unbelievably frustrating, I’m not ready to smash things in my house over this one in particular.
I realized a couple of weeks ago that this team’s ceiling was a 2nd round playoff exit (again), and I still feel that way.
We still have the same limitations that we’ve always had. It’s just the great start that we got off to had us thinking that everyone had turned a corner. Well they haven’t, unfortunately.

In other words:
This team is going nowhere with Mike Woodson as its head coach.

Any body but Woodson..
It has nothing to do with race. I don’t care if he’s White, Black, Purple, Red, Brown, Green… it doesn’t matter. Anything is better than watching this idiot coach a basketball team. He has no offensive sets except for ISO JOE and his all the time switching on defense is just stubborn. Mike Woodson couldn’t coach a High School team. He has no clue what he is doing. This team hasn’t gotten better because of him, they have gotten better because they grew up. Now they are being held back because of him.. Basically, Mike Woodson is an IDOT!

I guess
this is the rant post. I think we ranted the same thing last game. I think I found out why the hawks play stupid. They have two bench players starting when on any other team they are tweeners. I have to be honest with myself because maybe I won’t take losses like this too personally. But we needed more veteran help on the team because OBVIOUSLY nobody is stepping up to the plate.
WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED IN THAT FOURTH QUARTER? I’ll tell you that stupidity stepped in and reared it’s ugly head. The way this team came out a Div 2 team could have blown them out. I can’t just put this all on Woody because the players have to play some time.
The question is this and only this…..who is going to step up and be THE leader?
Atlanta will win a championship....someday
I say it was Woody
and that the players are burned out. They were getting badly outhustled in the 4th by a team that runs and guns. With the way they play, you can’t expect to play your starters 40+ minutes!
But that’s what Woody does…
Darn right!
WTF happened to a double digit lead?

How about this
Everyone throw something here…ex ’thrwing lamps"
Atlanta will win a championship....someday
Throwing up!
And why was Josh even in the game in that last second possession? We needed 3 and Josh can’t hit a three. Marvin, who at least can, if not always does hit a three, sits on the bench.
Throwing rocks and bottles at Mike Woodson!
I was saying the same thing
If Marvin takes that shot there is a good chance it goes in…..or he’s even smart enough to not panic and try and setup the play again
Ah, maybe not!
Marvin wasn’t in because of the Steve Nash inbound pass at the end of the Suns game.

Good game. The Hawks owned us until the fourth, and then we just got into a groove and made you guys play our running game. In all fairness, that kind of comeback happens like 2 or 3 times a season…it was just our night tonight.
You have a good team that’ll do some damage in the playoffs. That doesn’t mean those of us destined for the lottery won’t bring it every night, though. Looking forward to Round 2 in your house!
Curse?
Does anybody think those red jerseys are bad luck? i mean look at their win loss with those things on
They don't really make a difference
They’re bright enough for a teammate to find them but that doesn’t make them pass the ball any more.
Atlanta will win a championship....someday
I don't believe in luck
as much as I do believe in smart basketball and dumb basketball aka “young ball”

agree
dont get it confused i dont believe in luck either. its just these jerseys gettin a bad rep cus of them coincidentally loosing when they wear them. I happen to like the atl print on the middle of it. i was just postin this to see if any one else noticed this
i at times thought of it too
I remember the very first game we wore them, which i think was that thanksgiving game against the magic. Some people’s prayers were answered when they brought them out. But we choked on that game, and since then, when i think of losing, i think of those red unis.

Before the onslaught of obvious Iso-Joe comments tonight and tomorrow
Joe should be the last person catching blame on this game. Ball movement (once again) is the main reason we lost a winnable game in the fourth. Ball movement is everyone’s responsibility not one person.
The start of the game was very telling of how the night was going to go. The body language was horrific…absolutely horrible. We were going to lose just cause of that. Just because we went up 18 didn’t matter because the Warriors already gained the confidence earlier on. Good teams come out strong early on losing teams WITH ONLY 8 ACTIVE PLAYERS.
Another tell-tell sign was that three pointers by Jamal were keeping them from going on scoring droughts earlier on. We were settling way too early like the legs weren’t there in the beginning.
Our defense broke down in every way imaginable until the hawks decided to jump the passing lanes and get a few blocked shots. That 18 point lead was meaningless unless the hawks played defense, and you’ve got to have energy and passion to play defense…..so that begs the question….Can our bench actually spell anybody?.
Now I know the players and we the fans will agree that the hawks will bounce back, but what do we have to look forward to? Another Josh Smith three pointer?
Atlanta will win a championship....someday
Not just ball movement--
lack of defensive intensity and no rebounding in the crucial stretch—against one of the worst rebounding teams in the league.
Man
This sucks.
I didn’t get to watch the game, but I was getting my text updates after every quarter.
When I saw the final score, after having seen we were up by 17 at the end of the 3rd, I honestly thought it was a mistake.
At least we arn’t the only team that blew a large 4th quarter lead tonight.
BTW
I still think our biggest problem is the lack of offense coming from the bench. If Jamal doesn’t score, then we get ZERO bench production. I think Marvin could be a real playmaker coming off the bench. That’s a place where he could be the 1 or 2 option and come into his own.
you could be right
hate to say it but………Marvin might not be a starter in this league…or maybe not yet. He just gets lost on the floor. But in the 2nd unit if he’s is used as a scorer then maybe he will be more aggressive with the ball
Couldn't hurt
to try Marvin coming off the bench. But who’ll start in his place? Perhaps that’s what the team needs, a change. You know something different to spice things up.
We could just start MO
I think even Mo could score 8 or 9 a game with the starters. The big thing is if Marvin would now be able to score 14 or 15 off the bench.
Something tells me that Mo is not happen with his current situation. I'm sure he probably wants to leave.
Can’t say that I’d miss him either.
got a chance to sleep on it

I am finding solace in the fact that the Cavs have lost 3 in a row.
It’s the only thing preventing a massive rampage right now.
another solace is that Utah came back from 25 down to beat Portland
oh wait…we play them tonight! Doh!!!
strange parallel
from a few years ago when the hawks had a 21 point lead on the Jazz and lost at home.

From my perspective and responding to some of you.....
—Why was Josh in the game in the 4th?
How quickly you forget……17 rebounds equals a chance for another shot. Plus, Smoove’s had a few 4th quarter heroics of his own. Marvin is a choke artist. Don’t fool yourselves.
—Ball movement? Don’t blame JJ??
Can’t move a ball that doesn’t come back to you. Once Joe gets it, their best bet is to just stand back and watch JJ chuck up another brick.
—Zaza is the most unathletic man in the world. Period. You could flinch at Zaza in the paint and he would drop the ball.
—Outside of Al and Smoove, who else was grabbing boards? I’ll wait. I can tell you who WASN’T….and they’re “The Usual Suspects”…..Joe, Joe Cool, this other dude they call “JJ”, this one cat that wears #2, etc.
—As much as I personally hate to say this, I must not admit that Bibby has become the blown out light bulb in your refrigerator. Time to replace it. Speaking of, Jeff Teague is a BEAST.
—Biggest problem? Woody is a defensive coach…..IF that. The man knows no damn offensive plays.
—Sometimes, Smoove can help TOO much on the defensive end.
—I look at these recent losses, Joe Johnson and I don’t know but……I don’t see “max money”.
Anyway, obviously I can go on. Since a few were ranting, let me go off on the fact that I said to get rid of Woody THREE YEARS AGO…..even went so far as to post an online petition and I got ROASTED for my efforts. So enjoy bum ass Mike Woodson because you guys wanted his ass to stay. What the hell was wrong with Avery Johnson? We know we can’t talk….but he’s proven as a HEAD coach…..not no damn assistant. Woody pisses me off come playoff time trembling, wearing that Pistons ring like that means a damn thing to us, the Hawks or this city! I’ll say this. How come in the hell we didn’t get Doc Rivers when he was available and we could have kept the whole thing ATL? Kevin Willis wants to come work in the front office……how come they aren’t working with the former players like maybe they ought to?
LMAO @ the notion that the red jerseys are in some way cursed. Riiiiiight.

ok
“How quickly you forget……17 rebounds equals a chance for another shot. Plus, Smoove’s had a few 4th quarter heroics of his own. Marvin is a choke artist. Don’t fool yourselves.”
So why was Josh on the three point line instead of in the paint?
“Can’t move a ball that doesn’t come back to you. Once Joe gets it, their best bet is to just stand back and watch JJ chuck up another brick.”
Sort of like the previous guy in mention. Who would you rather shoot a jumper? Joe or Josh?
Not saying that Joe doesn’t need to drive the ball instead of chucking, but like I’ve been trying to say on this site for the longest; it’s everyone’s fault not just Joe’s! I think everyone is mad at him for not taking a 60 mil extention.
Atlanta will win a championship....someday
please....
….Joe not taking a 60 Mil extension is nothing for ME to be mad about. Causing this topic to distract the team and allegedly looking for max money while proving his inconsistencies is what has me mad. Also, just because you catch the ball out by the three point line doesn’t mean he can’t make a move to the basket from there, maxxj3….just too bad that he didn’t.

You must be thinking of a different site
Because there are only a few people on this one that I know loves them some Woody, so don’t act like you are the only one that has ever had the notion that we should get rid of him. Frankly, you sound more angry at the fans than at the team, the coaching, management, or the ownership, which all happen to be actual viable reasons for being angry.

That's funny
Didn’t know you could tell my tone through what I typed. You must be a mutant…..lol…..j/k. Look, I simply responded to everyone crying about firing Mike Woodson and I pointed out the fact that I’d already done what I could as a fan to bring awareness to some of us wanting him out, ok? I’m not mad at the fans. That sounded STUPID of you to say. People were calling for MY head simply because I proposed the idea of removing Woody from his position. THEY were the ones mad. From what I can tell, there are a number of us who have posted on the Hawks’ basketblog. That was where I originally posted the petition, but none of that matters right now.

Ok, I am going to confess that I am usually one of those that Hawksdawg would call a "Woodson appologist".
I do think that many of those that frequent this blog are overly critical of him, most of the time.
That being said, this loss clearly lies at Woody’s feet. I see no possible, logical, rational, reasoning for the lineup that was on the floor at the end of the game. Joe, Bibby, and Jamal, should never be on the floor together at crunch time. I’d rather see Joe, Jamal, and Mario, and as much as I personaly like Mario, that senario makes me shudder. Bibby is not only shooting poorly right now, but seems to have lost his nerve to pull the trigger on the three.
Replacing him with JT would have been better, and I would like to see him get a shot at starting some games, and see if he can begin to develop some better descision making skills, running the point.
I think the better line up in that game would have been JJ, Jamal, and Marvin. Jamal can handle the ball well enough, and we know Joe is going to have it in his hands at some point anyway, since the half court offense generaly runs through him. Marvin had a decent FG% for the game, brings far better defense, and while he may not be lights out shooting the three, he is better than Bibby at this time, and not too gun shy to pull the trigger.
A lot of noise has been made about “Iso Joe” losing this game, and that too is an unfair assesment. Joe was killing GS in this game, untill the 4th. So logic follows, something changed. What changed was that GS started double teaming JJ and doing it as soon as he got the ball. Before you all start shouting me down, that this was the problem, and about Joe’s refusal to pass out of the double team, let me make a point. Yes Joe needs to pass out of the double team, but the other members of the team also need to move without the ball, so that they will be in position to do two things. When you move without the ball, you need to position yourself to, (A) recieve a pass from the ball handler, and (B) score. Again, I have to point to Bibby in this case as the weakest link in this game. If he passes in to Joe, only to have his man collapse in on the double, then he either must position himself to catch and shoot the return, which he is not confident in doing at present, or he must cut to the basket, which is not his strong suit. Bibby is not the only player who does a bad job moving without the ball on offense, but in this case He was the most obvious.
Again, wrong lineup on the floor.
