Around SBN: Transfer Rumor: Bolton On Verge of First Signings

The Hawks today signed Mario West for the remainder of the season, the team announced.

West had signed consecutive 10-day contracts with the Hawks and, under the rules of the collective bargaining agreement, the team was required to sign him for the rest of the season to retain him.

From Michael Cunningham of the AJC

I believe "retain" implies that one could lose the thing in question. Not sure who the Hawks would lose Mario to, but this just adds to my undying respect, if not excitement, that Mario can continue to make NBA money.

The love affair continues. Can somebody find out if Woody is Mario's biological father?

My only concern is the development of Teague. Lately, Mario has been getting more minutes than Teague. I don’t like that pattern. If West had an offensive game to speak of, I’d more excited. On the other hand, Woody would probably wet his pants if Mario actually attempted a shot.

congrats Mario!

I HOPE this doesn’t mean less playtime for teague but I think it will be fine. now another defensive weapon….if only he had a jumper or drove to the basket

Rookie

He needs playing time. Somewhere I read we have won like 20 games with over 20+ points difference. Pretty large margin. True Rookie is not prime time, but if he can’t get in when we have some big margins, then when? It is clear Bibby’s time is coming to an end, Rookie needs to be given a chance to mature and get seasoning, otherwise when do we know if he is ready. He shows enough flashes that he is deserving of getting a few minutes each half.

you know

i have seen JT play and the few chances he has gotten he hasnt looked good decent to say the best. But Woody has to play Mario he gives the team and spark and plays ok D i just have this bad feeling JT is gonna turn into Acie Law

Well

If the game is already decided what motivation would he have out there? When he was put out there in the Lakers game, with some time in the fourth, he helped make it an 8 point game at the end when it was almost a 30 point blowout. There were numerous other times he got out there and played well but there were also times when he went out there with a few seconds left. Even when Law first started he was more aggressive towards the basket like teague did.

Mario is a role player just like teague should be.

hmmm

id love to see jeremy richardson or another young 2guard on this team in case jj leaves.personally id love if he left in favor of us going after rudy gay i think he has all the tools to play that spot for us.

rudy gay is mad talented and young

But jj is so important to this team and rudy won’t be able to fill his shoes. not taking any of his abilities from him but this is jjs team and I don’t think he will leave them
