rumor #2501: Nash to Hawks

I just read the story, and at first, I thought they were gonna suggest trading Josh for Nash, but when they didn’t, I actually thought it wouldn’t be a bad deal. Jamal may be gone by the end of the year anyway, so why not. I know Nash is getting old, but he still looks great and he probably has a few more good years in him. His assist numbers would skyrocket in ATL, and out of the possible suggestions of teams he could go to, I think this would be the best fit for him. He would be surrounded by a bunch of athletic guys, and Nash really knows how to push the ball and get the fastbreak going, and he’s just as great in the halfcourt. Even though the Hawks would still need a SF, and Marvin is better than people make him out to be, I would package Marvin and Jamal for Nash in a heartbeat. I don’t know about giving up Teague though. I love his athleticism and I feel like he has a ton of potential. The only thing that worries me is that this may be a worse Hawks team by the time he reaches that potential.

And I feel you on generating a buzz. We’d definitely get more coverage on ESPN, but I don’t know about Phillips Arena being any different. I don’t know what’s going on out there. Where’s the support? When I watch Hawks games, it always feels like I’m watching some meaningless junior high school scrimmage, until of course the playoffs hit, and then all of the so called fans show up, boo Joe Johnson, and he looks like the bad guy, but that’s another story altogether.

Definitely an interesting rumor. I’m curious to know if there’s any real interest on either side.

I think Bibby brought that element to a degree with the alley oops and no look passes. I think him and Nash actually have similar games, except Nash is better at spacing, creating his own shot, and just has a better overall game. For as much as we all talk shit about Bibby, he plays an important role on this team. Same goes for Marvin and Jamal. Whenever I hear these rumors, I’m usually all for it because it always seems like something is missing on this team, but at the same time I’d hate to lose any of the pieces we already have. That’s why I’m usually so angry, as a Hawks fan, during the Free Agency period. It’s the one time where teams can add an important piece without losing any players.

LOL..Loved the random observations! I don’t know if Josh has been working on his jumper over the past two offseasons, but you’re right, he TRULY believes in it this year. I don’t know how long it’ll last, and I still hold my breath every time he pulls up from the outside, or when he chooses to take the ball up the court himself and play PG even though Bibby is usually right next to him waiting for the ball, but I guess you gotta take the good with the bad. Josh Powell has fit in a lot better than I thought he would. I’m curious to know what you were gonna say about Collins. I love the ball movement too. Even with the two losses, I think the Hawks are a much better team this year, and I hope they continue to buy into this new offensive system.
