Just one day into the 2010 season and the Hawks have been bitten by the injury bug. Mo Evans traveled back to Atlanta to have his knee drained and will be out for several days according to Hawks beat writer Michael Cunningham. Evans has been trying to come back from knee surgery that he had during the off season. He shut it down for several weeks during training camp but it still appears that something isn't right with the knee.
"In hindsight we wish we could have gotten those three or four weeks back because moving into training camp I would have been able to go full go," Mo said the other day.
The toughest part about this is that the Small Forward position could be the thinnest position the Hawks currently have. Evans is actually an undersized option there but has pretty much anchored the back up spot for the Hawks the last two seasons. It will be interesting to see how coach Drew juggles the rotation to account for Evans' absence. No doubt this probably means that Joe Johnson will see much more time at the small forward position at least in the short term.
