Mario West is coming back to the Hawks on a 10 day contract.
The prodigal son returns! Lets hope he wasted his inheritance in the far country on a jump shot.
As Hoopinion tweeted, "Mario West's return is indicative of team willing to blame lack of effort for losses but rarely willing to blame lack of execution or talent"
But good for Mario, if there was someone I was pretty sure was not going to give up it was Mr. West. I hope he shanks Paul Pierce tonight.

I like Mario (my man from Georgia Tech) but...
Why? Yea he gives a lot of effort, but he just is not that good.
He should not be on the 13-man roster of a championship caliber team.
I realize Big-O wasn’t playing that well, but he’s still better than M-Weezy.
I dont agree
West’s defense is better than most of the hawks in the couple of seconds he plays. I wonder how much he plays in order to earn a contract.
Atlanta will win a championship....someday
Ugh!! Why do we make thrift shop moves!
They cut him for a reason. He has zilch to offer as an offensive player and we look desperate signing him. Woody has this love affair with because of his effort. Effort is cool, but when is effort alone enough to be in the NBA. Skill has to factor in there some where. I’m not knocking his effort, but damn. Is he really gonna get us over the hump? Is he that much better than Othello? We’ll never know because Woody didn’t give the boy a chance to prove himself. He could sent him to the D league or something. I may be having a female moment, but I’m really starting to hate Woody.

Not sure why you are so upset
But when these guys go through another spell where they would rather be Spanish Matador’s than play actual defense, you’ll be opining for anyone to put a little effort into it.

Let's see...
I’m upset because they’re bringing back a hype man and not a real basketball player. Hopefully he’ll prove me wrong. He has got to improve on his offensive output. As I recall, some people on this blog thought Mr. Mario was getting a little too big for his britches (not saying it was you).
I agree w/r/t his offensive production
But would you rather we pay for a player that will wear a suit and never sniff the court, or pay a guy who will see the court in very limited minutes and put in 100% effort and heart for every single one of those minutes?
I agree that West is limited in what he provides, but my argument as always been that what he does provide is more than nothing at all. I know many will argue that professional players should not need to be motivated, but anyone who has every watched Josh Smith knows for a fact that his game is all motivation and emotionally driven. If seeing West put in a ton of effort on one defensive play is enough for to motivate Josh Smith to play better defense, then I am fine with bringing West back. Especially when the other options have always been relegated to handing towels to the guys as they come off the court while wearing suits that cost as much as my car.

OMG Mario!
I love Mario……….but I have to admit othello brings a better offensive presence for us. but Mario could have gotten a bit better with scoring. anyone know how he did where he was?

Many thanks
I remember commenting somewhere, replying to a conversation about Othello being released, that the Hawks needed a defensive guard, and wouldn’t be surprised if Mario made his way back.
Defensive role players are bad things?
You guys do know that Jeff Teague is already on the team, right? Why would they need to add an offensive player? There isn’t a player out there that could be added to Atlanta’s core. They have a solid starting 5 and a bench that won’t kill them come playoff time.
