Blogging With the Enemy: Posting and Toasting

Predicted bane of the Hawks' existence: Al Harrington

Game Preview:

The Knicks won the last meeting between these two teams, as Al Harrington continued to torment his former team.  He's averaging 25 points against us this year, and hasn't struggled very much to get his shots.  An early Josh Smith ejection in that game left Atlanta short-handed in the frontcourt, but the Knicks' ability to rain threes from the backcourt was really the deciding factor.

Star-divide

While the Hawks dropped a real heartbreaker up in Cleveland, the Knicks dropped a game to the New Jersey Nets, helping them to their third win.  Somewhat surprisingly, this is a Knicks team that remains in playoff contention, just one game behind Charlotte and Milwaukee and two games behind Chicago.  Expect another fairly high-paced meeting tonight, and plenty of post-game quotes about defense while its presence seems lacking.

Go Hawks!

I'm not actually sure

Said he was going to not have internet until after New’s Years, so it’s vacation related.

Ah gotcha

Still think you’re doing fine, though.

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 7:32 PM EST up reply actions

BTW

Sorry if you’re annoyed by the advertisement I keep posting. But it would be a real help if you would just click the link.

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 7:04 PM EST reply actions

lol

Copied and pasted, and forgot to edit. Thanks for keeping me honest.

HawksDawgs usually does these, but he’s incapacitated. That’s what happens when you leave me in charge.

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 7:13 PM EST up reply actions

We'll get 25-10 that if we just take care of business the next few games.

Though I must say, whoever gave us Boston-Boston-Boston over four days in Jan (?) needs to be executed. No judge, no jury…straight to execution.

by rbubp on Jan 1, 2010 7:23 PM EST up reply actions

Then we get

Boston/Orlando again in a back-to-back at the end of the month.

Gonna really need to beat up on the bad teams when we can.

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 7:25 PM EST up reply actions

But

At least this means we get some TV time

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 7:33 PM EST up reply actions

really?

Boston and Orlando?! that’s brutal

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 7:35 PM EST via mobile reply actions

so their reviewing the play?

Anyone think we will get a redo?

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 7:37 PM EST via mobile reply actions

It's a possibility

But I’d put it at about 20%

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 7:38 PM EST up reply actions

I wouldn't even give it that high of a percentage

In a way, I don’t want them to reverse it. If we lose again, we’ll never hear the end of it and if we won, we’d never hear the end of it. I wish they would let the loss soak in until we meet again in the playoffs and then bring out a can of whoop ass!

by dstdeelite on Jan 1, 2010 8:45 PM EST up reply actions

oh you must have faith

Atlanta will win a championship....someday

by maxxj3 on Jan 1, 2010 8:46 PM EST up reply actions

Sounds good:

Hawks will try to avoid taking bad shots by not falling in love with the Knicks’ pace. But let’s see how it plays out.

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 7:40 PM EST reply actions

ugh

I wanna slap jj for that pass to josh

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 7:45 PM EST via mobile reply actions

I love turnovers

When the Hawks are on defense

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 7:53 PM EST reply actions

which Williams?

Nate would come back now.

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 7:59 PM EST via mobile reply actions

jj makes me wonder

He needs the challenge of 3 defenders doesn’t he?

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 8:01 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Whats goin on

are we winning cant watch game help

by Erihury on Jan 1, 2010 8:02 PM EST reply actions

Ummmm

Isn’t Utah Darwin Williams or something? but he is very good. reminds me of a combo of guards and a younger BIBBY………..still love BIBBY though

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 8:03 PM EST via mobile reply actions

I'm lazy

I don’t feel like walking to my computer……..id will just plug up my phone now

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 8:12 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Damn I hate Nate Robinson

He hasn’t played in 14 games, but yet he plays tonight. I bet he was annoying in high school.

by dstdeelite on Jan 1, 2010 8:12 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Smoove

wont be denied nor contained

by Erihury on Jan 1, 2010 8:25 PM EST reply actions

UGH

by Erihury on Jan 1, 2010 8:33 PM EST reply actions

congrats BIBBY!

Okay first half, we need to put them away though.

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 8:34 PM EST via mobile reply actions

we need to find

a way to get Horf the ball close to he can get closer shots he is always taking hook shots and jumpers

by Erihury on Jan 1, 2010 8:37 PM EST reply actions

He's making those at a very fine rate tonight

And in fact, most nights. We just need to give him more opportunities to score in general.

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 8:38 PM EST up reply actions

yea i know

just sometimes i wish he could be more aggressive so he can draw more fouls on other guys

by Erihury on Jan 1, 2010 8:39 PM EST up reply actions

Also

Perimeter defense is an issue again-Knicks shooting 7-14 from behind the arc.

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 8:39 PM EST reply actions

Mike dantoni teams

always make extra passes. always shoot threes

Atlanta will win a championship....someday

by maxxj3 on Jan 1, 2010 8:41 PM EST reply actions

josh gets selfish with the ball at times

Its a good trait but bad too……………we just need some intensity. they bored me for about 5 minutes with the Jumpshots.

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 8:42 PM EST via mobile reply actions

How do we stop Nate's short ass?

Aside from doing a Nancy Kerrigan on him

by dstdeelite on Jan 1, 2010 8:47 PM EST reply actions

got to bracket him

Atlanta will win a championship....someday

by maxxj3 on Jan 1, 2010 8:47 PM EST up reply actions

I would say put Teague on him

But we need Teague to guard Duhon, apparently.

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 8:49 PM EST up reply actions

yeah

why is tonight the night he plays?

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 8:50 PM EST up reply actions

Seriously!

If I knew he was playing, I’d have made him my bane of the Hawks’ existence!

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 8:51 PM EST up reply actions

I am excited bout marv tonight

He is hustling and scored a bit. he seems to be finding his game through defense first rather than offense

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 8:47 PM EST via mobile reply actions

ugh, double posts again!

Mobile commenting, stressful

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 8:57 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Not that I've read

Just not getting time lately.

Kind like the Nate situation except not as bad, perhaps.

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 8:59 PM EST up reply actions

hmm.

To me he looks like a future stud

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 9:00 PM EST up reply actions

could be

haven’t glimpsed him

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 9:00 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Nate comes in

So Marv is subbed for Crawford?

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 8:59 PM EST reply actions

Please leave Al in

But he’s not going to listen. Still, Al is playing way too well.

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 9:00 PM EST reply actions

well its four fouls

if it was three and we were behind I’d wanna leave him in

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 9:01 PM EST up reply actions

he has to come out

if he gets 5 then we’ll never see him again

Atlanta will win a championship....someday

by maxxj3 on Jan 1, 2010 9:02 PM EST up reply actions

Im sure that wont keep him from shooting, though. Thta’s why we love em.

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 9:04 PM EST up reply actions

by maxxj3 on Jan 1, 2010 9:07 PM EST reply actions

Great third quarter

Al doing some work, and Josh got it going on both ends. Looks like the Hawks did some refocusing in the locker room.

Hope it wasn’t a Gilbert Arenas/Javaris Critt situation.

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 9:08 PM EST reply actions

Hey now

JC’s my man.

Georgia Tech guy

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 9:09 PM EST up reply actions

ha i would say no

Atlanta will win a championship....someday

by maxxj3 on Jan 1, 2010 9:09 PM EST up reply actions

but yea

stepped up defensively and much more energized

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 9:10 PM EST up reply actions

JJ's taken a LOT of shots

But for some reason it’s not ruining the flow of the game

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 9:14 PM EST reply actions

just when we were giving too much praise

Atlanta will win a championship....someday

by maxxj3 on Jan 1, 2010 9:25 PM EST reply actions

here we go..............

Somebody take the batteries out of the energized bunny

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 9:25 PM EST via mobile reply actions

So i just think having Jamal and Bibby on the floor against the run and gun knicks is just stupid

by RealSquawk on Jan 1, 2010 9:30 PM EST reply actions

aww man!

Close them out! this is getting scary

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 9:31 PM EST via mobile reply actions

lol… but really he could

by RealSquawk on Jan 1, 2010 9:32 PM EST up reply actions

Yes he could...

But I do love to hear him complain. Like vs. the Cavs, “That’s a charge! That’s a charge! That’s a charge!” He said that maybe 5 or 6 times after Lebron barreled through the lane one time, and got a foul 10 seconds later.

by Mr. Sanchez on Jan 1, 2010 9:35 PM EST up reply actions

put in marv

His defense is on point

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 9:33 PM EST via mobile reply actions

And Woody sticks to his guns. and they get a rebound and they get a basket. this is hilarious, but it won’t be funny if we loose

by RealSquawk on Jan 1, 2010 9:36 PM EST reply actions

Ok seriously there is no one on the floor Bibby can guard

by RealSquawk on Jan 1, 2010 9:36 PM EST reply actions

Horf

blocks that midget

by Erihury on Jan 1, 2010 9:37 PM EST reply actions

why is Crawford in here

Marv should be in…………………. go al!

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 9:38 PM EST via mobile reply actions

god this is

heart killing im losing years of life watching this

by Erihury on Jan 1, 2010 9:39 PM EST reply actions

Can we close them out please

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 9:40 PM EST via mobile reply actions

by maxxj3 on Jan 1, 2010 9:47 PM EST reply actions

Tallies:

JJ-no assists in the second half.

Horford-one shot attempt in the fourth, coming on an out-of-bounds play with 1 second on the shot clock.

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 9:47 PM EST reply actions

Marvin guarding Nate

There’s a match-up I can live with.

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 9:49 PM EST reply actions

UGH

why cant we close out games

by Erihury on Jan 1, 2010 9:49 PM EST reply actions

wow

Nate is getting to the basket at will

by Erihury on Jan 1, 2010 9:50 PM EST reply actions

would overtime be necessary if we had went to our forwards earlier

by RealSquawk on Jan 1, 2010 9:50 PM EST reply actions

keep it from joe. keep it from bibby

by RealSquawk on Jan 1, 2010 9:51 PM EST up reply actions

with what?

two people that can’t guard him? This is getting ridiculous.

by Mr. Sanchez on Jan 1, 2010 9:51 PM EST up reply actions

by dmortone on Jan 1, 2010 9:53 PM EST reply actions

Mike Woodson and double team are like oil and vinegar.

by RealSquawk on Jan 1, 2010 9:54 PM EST up reply actions

Every member of the hawks should commit sepuku after this game

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 9:55 PM EST up reply actions

Again

we cant close out games i blame Woody

by Erihury on Jan 1, 2010 9:55 PM EST reply actions

worse second half team i swear we blow leads like crazy

by Erihury on Jan 1, 2010 9:57 PM EST reply actions

Al Horford

1-2 shooting in 4th quarter and OT

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 9:57 PM EST reply actions

someone should

tell Woody Al might be our best player let him attack

by Erihury on Jan 1, 2010 9:58 PM EST up reply actions

Bob and 'Nique both knew

David Lee/Al Harrington weren’t slowing Horf down at all

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 9:59 PM EST up reply actions

yea but somehow Woody

refuses to give him the ball god i hate Woody

by Erihury on Jan 1, 2010 10:00 PM EST up reply actions

you can’t expect respect when you loose to the Knicks at home

by RealSquawk on Jan 1, 2010 9:58 PM EST reply actions

I'm too drained to get a recap up tonight

I’ll try to get something done in the morning

by Bronn on Jan 1, 2010 9:59 PM EST reply actions

Why is JJ the only offense that matters in close games?

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 10:01 PM EST reply actions

I wonder what Woody will report to the league this time.

David stern,
League rules should dictate that a player who sits for a month should not be allowed to score 40 points against any team in his first game back.

Sincerely,

Mike Woodson

by RealSquawk on Jan 1, 2010 10:01 PM EST reply actions

…thats not cool

by axhfan on Jan 1, 2010 10:01 PM EST up reply actions

my bad post game vent. should have kept it to myself

by RealSquawk on Jan 1, 2010 10:03 PM EST up reply actions

I notice when teague and Joe smith hasn't played a lot the fourth quarter meltdown happens

Jj has been working and so has BIBBY but woody needs to play his bench. that’s what their there for! why does he run his starters in the ground?! I believe teague could have stayed inn front of him. just ridiculous

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 10:02 PM EST via mobile reply actions

I give al and josh credit for playing well tonight

But this game was unacceptable and should have been put away a long time ago. woody has to use his bench or they won’t be able to close out correctly just like tonight…….ridiculous. but on to Monday game(i guess)……………

by Hawksgirl on Jan 1, 2010 10:09 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Well now we know what the problem is....

Woody doesn’t think we have a problem executing in the 4th quarter. Really? We’ve had total brain farts in the 4th quarter for 3 straight games. All resulting in losses. Did they forget how to play in the 4th quarter because they sat out so much during the blowouts? Unbelievable. And Woody wonders why he doens’t have an extension.

by dstdeelite on Jan 1, 2010 10:17 PM EST reply actions

Unacceptable

No more blame games. Woody should take credit for being out-coached not once, not twice, but three times. If the bench can’t play trade them for people who can. I feel like not watching these games for the rest of the regular season because of this hog wash. Feeling all good and then this? What hawks fan wants to put up with this garbage? come on man, you got solid players on the bench let them make plays, let them take fouls, let them PLAY!

Atlanta will win a championship....someday

by maxxj3 on Jan 1, 2010 10:19 PM EST reply actions

no protest this time, i hope

move on and finish the game well. iso joe does not work

by annabel on Jan 1, 2010 10:21 PM EST reply actions

Iso Joe was not the problem

The problem was stopping the dribble penetration. What do you have to do to get some penetration protection?

Atlanta will win a championship....someday

by maxxj3 on Jan 1, 2010 10:24 PM EST up reply actions

maybe not so much tonight

but you would agree that iso joe alters all the good plays they did for the first 3 quarters, they become very predictable

by annabel on Jan 1, 2010 10:28 PM EST up reply actions

they're predictable regardless

when you have the same players on the floor and they don’t move

Atlanta will win a championship....someday

by maxxj3 on Jan 1, 2010 10:33 PM EST up reply actions

I see us losing in Miami as well.

And it’s really a shame because our team is not this bad.

by dstdeelite on Jan 1, 2010 10:43 PM EST reply actions

no, we're not that bad

I don’t think we’re losing to the heat….If the bench plays. Woody can’t be that stuborn.

Atlanta will win a championship....someday

by maxxj3 on Jan 1, 2010 10:59 PM EST up reply actions

I can't see us losing to the heat

This is their first losing streak and it needs to be the last. woody is doing what we used to do now, but they aren’t that team from two years ago or even last year, they have room to go deep. when teague makes a mistake woody benches him, which is a dumb move since he needs to be developed. He just needs to trust his bench……………
