Marvin Williams has officially unofficially signed with the Hawks

Sekou Smith of the AJC reports:

"The truth of the matter is, I still haven't signed, yet."

That's a technicality Williams expects to take care of this afternoon now that he's agreed to a five-year, $37.5 million contract with the Hawks, a deal that with incentives could be worth as much as $43 million. The official announcement is expected early next week.

My feelings on the deal remains the same as when the deal first leaked (or if your Sekou, was falsely reported on). I like Marvin. I like the contract, and I think his best years are ahead of him. If he reaches all his incentives, my guess is 43 million will look like a bargain. An NBA bargain, not like a walmart bargain.

No press conference is planned. Makes sense. Marvin does not seem like a press conference kind of guy. Ahhh Marv, how I love you and your mustache and your duck walk.

The stache and duck ass are great, but...

My roommate’s nickname for Marvin was “Blatch” because his mohawk looked like a black female’s naughty parts.

Good for Marvin. Glad we got him signed.

"Duff Man can't breathe!" Always a fan of the Duff Man!

Looking over the free agent poo-poo platter that is left I was hoping that Williams hadn’t moved forward on the deal so that perhaps the Nuggets could work a sign-and-trade. I was trying to live in Fantasyland.

The Hawks vs. Nuggets game I attended in Denver saw Williams play pretty well. Nice deal … not overpriced. Hope he continues to develop in ATL.

This bonus laden contract is exactly what works for a player like Marvin...

Pays him right for his play so far, and lets him get paid if he progresses….

I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three.

Isn’t it always a let down when they officially announce stuff that’s exactly the same thing that was unofficial a week ago? Where’s the fun in that?

We really need a quote from ’Nique to give this story some flair.

Finally, something officially official.

Official is a really weird word when you repeat it a lot. Official, official, officially, officially in the official office….

This story is bringing out the worst in me.
