Mario West is going into camp without a contract for the 3rd year.

It seems a bit weird that the Hawks cannot make a decision before camp as to whether they want Mario on the team considering he has done the exact same things well (going down right crazy and crashing the boards) and not well (most other things related to basketball) since he has been on the team.

But I guess it does not really matter since I am sure Mario was going to go 100 percent whether he had a contract or not.

it seems to be a rather jerk move to bring him in since they know what they are getting with him already.

i just realized i am very conflicted on mario west making the team. and i meant that in total seriousness.

I think it's just that though...

the team knows what you get with Mario. They want someone to beat him out, someone with actual talent at playing the game. But if not, you can depend on Mario to be a decent enough 13th man.

i meant star players. not players who start or happen to wear starter jackets.

and mario noticeably annoyed Wade, CP3, and Kobe last year. although i think kobe just scored.

Given their respective places in the league, if DWade ever has to say “No, that guy didn’t affect me,” in a post-game interview, then Mario must have done something right.

Greasy has his place on the team and I think he understands that. And you are absolutely right, if a star player has to recognize you then you clearly made some impact on him. A minimum contract for an energy guy, I have no problem with that.

Plus, I can’t help but root for the guy and he’s not the worst defender we have on this team.

That Mario can do 2 things well makes him a better use of a roster spot than the dreck the Hawks typically sign for the last few spots on the roster who only get onto the floor in blowouts. There are unfortunately all too many Hawks games when Josh or Marvin needs to see somebody like Mario going nuts playing at 100% effort to remind him to play hard too.
