The Hawks acquired Jamal Crawford and drafted Jeff Teague. Congratulations on being the Hawks. We all look forward to your insane athleticism, missing point guard, and unrealized potential getting Mike Woodson fired really soon.

not in full agreement with the quote

then again, it did make me cry a little bit.

I am in full agreement with the quote

But hopefully they’ll speed up the tempo and at least be fun to watch while they’re losing 45 games.

where it is was once only hoopinion in the world of the glass half empty

it appears only micah hart and I are left to be optimistic in the hawks blogosphere. and micah gets paid to do so….

at least we can all agree on mike woodson.

too early to tell

How can anybody predict how the season will go right now without seeing whether the Hawks re-sign Marvin, Bibby, Flip, and Zaza or what other players Sund brings in to replace the ones he doesn’t re-sign? I am still hopeful Sund will put together a squad that can repeat getting a top 5 seed and making the second round (and hopefully winning a game or even two!). If the Hawks merely did that, I would be fairly satisfied. Low expectations? Sure, but it’s the Hawks we’re talking about not the Cavs or Lakers.

In my mind “true point guards” are hugely overrated. Consider that the Cavs traded for Shaq not Steve Nash. The problem with the Hawks is not lack of a point but a stationary offense that doesn’t move the ball around, underutilizes its post players, and relies heavily on 3s and isolation plays. A good point guard could help overcome those flaws to a degree, but ultimately if Mike Woodson doesn’t ask his point guard to drive and dish or move the ball around, it isn’t going to happen. A better coach could take the same players still without an elite point guard and put together an offense that scores more points and more easily. Woodson is the main problem not the personnel.

Because Cavs have a "true point forward"

In LeBron James. The Jamal Crawford trade confused me immensely, especially given that he’s basically Joe Johnson who does everything a little worse, except maybe for the shake ’n bake.

Fret not

You all know by the time the season starts I will have talked myself into them actually winning 50 games and appearing in the ECF. The end of last season’s wound is still open today though. ;)

This quote is typical of the knee-jerk Hawks bashing that is so popular among media types

I’m with you Drew, I may not have a blog, but I’m optimistic. If the season started today we’d be a worse team, but the process is far from over. Let’s win 50 games and shove it in their faces.
