Probable starters:
Derek Fischer PG Mike Bibby
Kobe Bean Bryant SG Joe Johnson
Trevor Ariza
SF Mo Evans
Lamar Odom PF Josh Smith
Pau Gasol C Al Horford

Hawks Injury Report: Marvin Williams is out, and Acie Law has a hurt back but probably will not play regardless.

Lakers Injury Report: Kobe Bryant has a bum ankle, and I expect him to play, but even if he doesn't, the Hawks have proved a team without its best player is no reason to get one's hopes up.

Blogging With the Enemy: Forum Blue and Gold

Predicted bane of the Hawks existence: Lamar Odom, yea I said it.

Game Preview:

I copy and paste the last game game thread to start the next, just filling in the new blanks, and the opposing team's record just keeps getting better and better. It kind of hurts my feelings.

This is the kind of game the Hawks win. The one they are not suppose to. The one that keeps you from falling off the cliff, writing fan posts with far too many cuss words, calling for people's heads, it is the one that restores hope. That being said, I don't think the Hawks win this afternoon. I just want to make clear that if they do, I had some foresight into it without any guts to stand by that. And if they lose, I will just say I told you so.

Keys to the game:

  1. Call me crazy, but I always think Al Horford can have the advantage over Pau Gasol. It may not happen, but physical play on both ends of floor can knock Pau out of his game. Horford just needs the opportunity.
  2. Josh Smith plays defense.
  3. Hot Flip. The Lakers' bench is going to score. Our one bench scorer therefore needs to do so.
  4. Joe is going to play 40 minutes. Kobe Bryant is not. Joe needs to take advantage in the difference.

What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than in the comments. Prepare for a heavy Louisville bias from me.

Go Hawks.

after the game, there is a documentary on the hawks that airs after the game called under the lights. sekou smith gives it his full recommendation.

Should be a good game. The Hawks finally have some real pressure on them. I hope they respond well.

by xavip on Mar 29, 2009 3:28 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i always thought the team would win 1 out of these three games

i just never thought it would be this third one.

we will see. it would be a big win. regardless whether kobe is 100 percent.

by hawksdawgs on Mar 29, 2009 3:44 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

great start

by acie4mvp on Mar 29, 2009 3:45 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i cant get over how bad

the hawks shooting is so far.

by hawksdawgs on Mar 29, 2009 3:45 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Slow start again

Here’s idea. Why don’t we start Flip to get us off to a better start. No one is attempting to drive to the basket.

by xavip on Mar 29, 2009 3:47 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

that is two bad fouls by kobe

go and sit and think about what you did

by hawksdawgs on Mar 29, 2009 3:51 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Why Josh!?! He got bailed out. His Bball IQ must be below 50 or something.

by xavip on Mar 29, 2009 3:53 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

he gets the idea that the hawks are better running

he just doesnt always get that leading the fast break can mean passing.

by hawksdawgs on Mar 29, 2009 3:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

zaza at his finest

two offensive boards, three shots, one basket all in one possession.

Tired?

JJ must have been out with Kobe last night. Every jumper is short.

by hawksdawgs on Mar 29, 2009 4:04 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

wow, al had some words for flip there

wanted the ball.

does he not know flips game?

by hawksdawgs on Mar 29, 2009 4:06 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Al should have something to say every other possession IMO

by xavip on Mar 29, 2009 4:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Somebody heard Horford I guess

by xavip on Mar 29, 2009 4:10 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Did I just see Smith run an effective fast break!

by Duff_Man on Mar 29, 2009 4:31 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

If Josh would stop leaving his feet on the fast break I might feel more comfortable leading a break. Not!

by xavip on Mar 29, 2009 4:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

wow

great basketball right there.

but the end outcome is kobe bryant is better than mario wests best.

by hawksdawgs on Mar 29, 2009 4:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

solo in

hold your breath. this could be a rough final two minutes.

by hawksdawgs on Mar 29, 2009 4:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think Mario just took it too far

by acie4mvp on Mar 29, 2009 4:35 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

but at least we got one answer

there is something worse than a josh smith jump shot

by hawksdawgs on Mar 29, 2009 4:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

mario west adn solo have no idea what is going on on offense

upside? al horford has four fouls for the second half.

by hawksdawgs on Mar 29, 2009 4:38 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

by acie4mvp on Mar 29, 2009 4:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

by xavip on Mar 29, 2009 4:38 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

solo is making me cry

literally crying right now.

i dont even have any tissues at my house.

by hawksdawgs on Mar 29, 2009 4:39 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

why would

Flip not take that?

by acie4mvp on Mar 29, 2009 4:40 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

they wanted to run the play for solo

but he had been pushed into the second row.

Solomon Jones

Is one of the most worthless big men I have ever seen.

I commend Woody for the rotations, though. I like what he is doing thus far. Flame away.

At the beginning of this year

If you had told me the Hawks could be beating the Lakers at halftime behind the good play of Zaza Pachulia and Flip Murray, I’d have replied “I don’t work for the CIA, so I have no idea what the counter-sign is.”

by Bronn on Mar 29, 2009 4:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Mo Evans

Is definitely the glue on the team. He hustles his ass off.

Coincidentally, the Hawks are out-hustling the Lakers by leaps and bounds.

Flip just made me spill my drink.

He looked like Jesus Shuttlesworth!

by acie4mvp on Mar 29, 2009 5:30 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Mario thought it was already garbage time

He got up to join that huddle as if to say “All right, I’m ready to go in.”

by Bronn on Mar 29, 2009 5:37 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I love the lineup

Not our best, but still killing.
