Hawks Injury Report: Marvin Williams and some dude named Craig. Acie Law has a hurt back but probably will not play regardless.
Timberwolves Injury Report: None that I could find....and I was wrong. Al Jefferson and Corey Brewer are out.
Blogging With the Enemy: Canis Hoopus
Predicted bane of the Hawks existence: Kevin Love's rebounding.
Game Preview:
Three things:
- What exactly is a Timberwolf?
- Go read Coco's preview.
- Start boxing out Kevin Love now.
In the game thread, I will be paying extra special attention to how I am wrong about wanting Mike Woodson fired at the end of the season. That and recording every kind of awesome that comes out of Dominique's mouth. Join me won't you.
Go Hawks!

Is that the number to clinch a playoff spot, or to be eliminated from winning the Southeast?

no magic is getting the hawks the division title.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 7:10 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
also in all honesty
no pun was intended there.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 7:10 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
nique is always very intent
on the hawks making the other team “give up” early.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 7:11 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I feel as though
his key should be the exact opposite, most of the time-avoiding giving the game away early.

I didn’t know that Mike Miller played for Florida.
I’m discovering that there’s a lot of players I like who came out of Florida.

At least I can still hate all the miserable jerks who came out of Kentucky
Like Rajon Rondo.
And all apologies to Randolph, who will likely be neither happy nor unhappy to hear this.

Al Horford is never going to get his triple double if JJ can’t convert opportunities that are perfectly set up for him, like that.
by Bronn on Mar 23, 2009 7:20 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
this is the best kind flip murry night
even his bad shots are going in.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 7:45 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
i love mo evans shooting open threes
step back threes, less so.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 7:46 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
flip murry backing down the smaller defender is such a great shot
he almost always makes it, and when he doesn’t, it is the perfect barometer to know he is going to go 2-12.
so you can get him out of the game.

the second quarter assasin
has 14 points in said period.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 7:53 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
For a while I was afraid Mario West would get more minutes than Al Horford.
by Bronn on Mar 23, 2009 7:55 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
don't worry
horford is resting for joe johnson.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 7:57 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Actually
This is looking like the Horford we don’t want. Illegal screen the culprit again, a couple of turnovers now and taking too many jumpers.
by Bronn on Mar 23, 2009 7:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
he has not looked good tonight
and that is very hard for me to say
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
it should be noted
josh smith just hurt mike miller’s feelings.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:01 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Bob and 'Nique giving a lot of praise to Flip
but hardly mentioning Mike Bibby. 7-8 shooting, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, 15 points. He even has a steal.
by Bronn on Mar 23, 2009 8:02 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
A double deuce? Haven’t heard that since like ’97 back in college.

What...you never watch "Roadhouse"?
Swayze was the bomb in dat yo.
by Duff_Man on Mar 23, 2009 8:09 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
three months at this blog and that is the first swayze reference
which was exactly three months too long.
"walls on both sides. what am i going to do paddle to new zealand?
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:12 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
My vow...
Is to bring more Swayze. I think i’d vote for a president on that platform.
by Duff_Man on Mar 23, 2009 8:17 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
two thoughts
1. the wolves try on defense every 4th possession
2. the refs are not calling fouls this game.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:20 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Good points
The T-Wolves really look like they’ve given up. They have no hustle at all.
by Duff_Man on Mar 23, 2009 8:22 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
and a third
it would be nice to have a healthy acie for a game like this.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:21 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
my roommate is a hawks fan
and he is adamantly demanding the timberwolves not get there game check tonight.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:24 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
hollinger is making love to his stats
as we speak.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Glad to have "good Josh" back
That steal on the inbounds and him diving on the floor doesn’t happen earlier this season.
by Duff_Man on Mar 23, 2009 8:31 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
And he turns it over
As soon as I hit “post”.
by Duff_Man on Mar 23, 2009 8:32 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
how bad are the t-wolves
the hardest they have tried on defense was when they just collapsed in on a mario west drive.
leaving joe for an open three.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:33 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
put another way
get joe out of the game.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:36 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Woody read your post
And listened.
Solo, Mario, Zaza, Mo, Flip. That’s not a lineup, it’s a punchline.
by Duff_Man on Mar 23, 2009 8:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
solo
please pretend to play like you are trying to earn playing time and box out.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:44 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
ok check that
just don’t totally suck.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:44 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
solomon jones does nothing well
like nothing at all… the guys has missed three wide open rebounds with nobody even close to him… and he has like a 17 foot wingspan.
and that last line-up was incredibly painful to watch… i know we’d like to rest guys and all but when you’ve only 7 leitimate rotation guys, you don’t really have that luxury
by get swoll yunel on Mar 23, 2009 8:46 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
solo 4 min. 2 fouls 1 block
and a whole lot of suck.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
why does the "let's go hawks" chant always sound like a chorus of only12 year old girls?
by get swoll yunel on Mar 23, 2009 8:47 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
flip puts up a horrible shot and makes it
i love hot flip.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:48 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
i love hot flip, too.. haha
what a great combo of words
by get swoll yunel on Mar 23, 2009 8:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
"I love hot flip"
Sounds like a tube8 video.
by Duff_Man on Mar 23, 2009 8:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i stand by my words
i just love hot flip.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i have only one word to sum up the second half play of the hawks
“pffffft”
by get swoll yunel on Mar 23, 2009 8:53 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
one foul
is all it took for me to dislike craig smith.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 8:54 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
when’s the last time the hawks actually “put somebody away” after being up by a significant margin?
it seems like every game they play they either a) play roughly even for most of the game, and then turn it on like motherfucker in the second or fourth quarter or b) they are on either side of a blow-out that often becomes closer by the end of the game
by get swoll yunel on Mar 23, 2009 8:59 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
well you were right earlier
we don’t have a full second unit normally. with marvin and acie out even less so. can’t put teams away if solo can’t rebound, score, or defend.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 9:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
the t-wolves are hitting some goofy looking treys
by get swoll yunel on Mar 23, 2009 9:00 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Flip Murray
I honestly think without him we have at least 6 fewer wins.
by Duff_Man on Mar 23, 2009 9:02 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
i didn’t know he had it in him!

AL “MOTHERFUCKING” HORFORD WITH AUTHORITY
by get swoll yunel on Mar 23, 2009 9:02 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
good woody
get al out of the game.
by hawksdawgs on Mar 23, 2009 9:03 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
we need to set a pre-game over/under on how many “heat check” comments ’nique will be good for
by get swoll yunel on Mar 23, 2009 9:05 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well, Nique, it took you til the 4th quarter
but we finally got “heat check”!
by Duff_Man on Mar 23, 2009 9:05 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Al Horford
If he wanted to bang my girlfriend, I’d let him. Hell, I might even watch. Hot Flip is almost at that status.

HD Bench Observations
1. Acie’s tie is hideous.
2. The bald guy behind the players looks EXACTLY like the white Jason Kidd
3. Our trainer looks like a used car salesman.
4. Tyrone Hill has a face that could stop a clock.

winning season
I could try to get cute here and make this big list of things that have happened since the Hawks last had a winning season, but it would take all night. Nevertheless, for the first time in 10 years, the Hawks are now winners.
Now comes the tough part — Spurs (even minus Manu), Celtics (minus Brian Scalabrine, haha) and Lakers (plus their refs). All at home, yes, but still … we’re going to need lots of steaming hot Flip, the normal dose of All-Star Joe and the Good Josh.
By the way, any team that starts Sebastian Telfair at point guard should be required to lose 50 games every year.
by tennesseehawk on Mar 24, 2009 1:29 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
i think that telfair thing
is a real rule actually.
