The Acie Law Poll
On an off day for the team, a way too early poll to enjoy.

Oh the options here
The third and fourth options, for me, could have easily been rolled into one. Woodson clearly should bench Bibby and start someone else, but Acie also has a very limited sample size to be able to accurately critique his game. So, though I wanted to pick both, I went with “Don’t know.”
I also do not agree with “a bust” even being an option. Everyone here knows where Woody got his training as a head coach and one of the rules in the Larry Brown Institute of Coaching is to never start young players over veterans except for in emergency situations. I’m not saying he has to start Acie, although I would not be opposed to it, I’m just saying that when Bibby isn’t connecting offensively, he has nothing left to offer on the court and should be replaced with either Flip or Acie. That responsibility lies solely on Woodson.
ok my choice is in last place
which means i must defend.
I think Acie has been inconsistent overall which i blame on woodson for inconsistently playing him. still, i think i have seen noticeable improvement from this last year to this one.
he certainly seems ready to be a backup point guard which is a step up from how woodson handles him.
what he does well is get to the basket and dish the ball off. he gets by his defender even when there is no way his defender is playing the jump shot. so that is pretty good.
i just see him repeatedly not be able to finish. he is either blocked or misses the shot or makes a really nice pass. but the percentage of his shots that are blocked has to be really high.
i say all this to say what he does really well would make him serviceable as a starter if he can just learn to finish at the basket. plenty of point guards that can’t shoot. not many that can’t shoot or finish. and i voted for thing most tied to what acie is already good at.
i am glad to see
even thought i did not vote this way, that mike woodson ended up winning this pole.
