Ok, a day after last night when I'm a little more rational, I've got a few thoughts on last night's game
1. Lebron was completely neutralized by Marvin-I’m pretty sure all his points came on fast break dunks, or when Bibby and/or Crawford was switched onto him. Now, obviously Lebron missed some looks he normally makes, but if Marvin plays the defense he always seems to do against Lebron again, we actually have a decent shot to steal one. Can Lebron’s supporting cast carry the Cavs again? (Not going to lie, the answer is most likely)
2. Josh is the key to this team. One of these days the national media is going to figure this out. If Josh can avoid foul trouble. I also like how Josh ended our disgusting scoring drought by completely ignoring Jamal’s call to pass the ball, took it up court and went right at Varejao before the Cavs defense was set. A smart Josh out of foul trouble determined to refuse to let the Hawks lose gives the Hawks their only chance of winning this game. Lot of ifs, but whatev.
3. Last night game highlights why JJ was foolish to snub the extension Sund offered. ISO joe just does not work against elite defenses, and joe and woody are the only people who don’t realize this. If joe can ever figure out that ball movement is more important than iso joe, he needs to stay. If not, he can have fun with the Knicks.
the knicks? ewwwwww
Why couldn’t you say someone like new jersey lol……..wait or not. knicks or even Houston. Tracy is leaving

I have a sinking suspicion
That this game might be difficult to watch.

game tonight
Look people I hope the Hawks win tonight I will be rooting for them. I’m just letting you know before the game, it is going to be a close game, then in the 4th Qtr there is going to be 1 or 2 ridiculous phantom calls that go in favor of the Cavs and the Cavs will win the game. That is what they are doing with the Cavs all year. They are not going to have them get their 3rd home loss already. This is an automatic win for the Cavs. I wish it weren’t true, just letting you know when that suspicious call happens it will go against the Hawks and for the Cavs and it will also go against the rulebook. So be prepared for it. and Go Hawks!!
Give me a break.
As someone who hasn’t enjoyed sports misery since 1964 (partially thanks to your ’95 Braves), I continue to find it absurdly laughable that people think things are fixed in favor of CLEVELAND. Is this some sort of joke?
Cleveland has endured by far the most professional sports seasons without a championship of any city in the nation or world at 128 (44 in baseball, 43 in football, 39 in basketball, and 2 in hockey), dating back to the Browns’ last NFL championship.
Nothing is fixed in favor of Cleveland.
1964
yes 1964, but that includes Browns, Indians, and I hope the Indians win the title first. However the Cavs team is different. They have major favorable calls now for 5 out of 6 games. (Bucks, Kings, Lakers, Suns, Hawks). and they will not allow them to get their 3rd home loss of the season already. So when the ridiculous call happens again in the 4th, most likely another ridiculous tech, don’t be suprised. The game has started so we will see what happens.
I told you
like I said 106-101, and I wish it didn’t happen
I called it buddy
and you know it.
“This is an automatic win for the Cavs. I wish it weren’t true, just letting you know when that suspicious call happens it will go against the Hawks and for the Cavs and it will also go against the rulebook. So be prepared for it. and Go Hawks!!”
by basketblll on Dec 30, 2009 3:44 PM PST
hope Mike Woodson is reading this. I got your back Mike!!
I usually have nothing to say on the "fixed games" subject
But elite stars do get calls no matter how you put it but majority of loses have nothing to do wit it.

Joe needs to take care in that post game
If LeBron doubles down on him, he can really get in trouble.
refs last night
i was at the game so it was kinda tough to tell. was it as bad as it seemed or am i just a big homer?
please woody don't take jj out to early

We’d get some useful, meaningful minutes out of the Joe Smith/Jason Collins front court.
Damn skippy!!!
Make Shaq earn his points tonight. I don’t care if we foul two or three bigs out….not named Josh or Al.
what ever was said after last night

Keep that in mind cavs
by Hawksgirl on Dec 30, 2009 8:14 PM EST via mobile reply actions
Well, not for me
It takes a while to forget a 9 minute scoring drought in the fourth quarter of a home game.
Marvin's D ain't what it was last night
He’s playing back a bit-I think a night full of watching James brick jumpers, plus just a couple of plays where he was burned by Bron’s speed, have him sagging off too much.
Wow! Q doesn't stand for Quicken Arena....right now it's for Quiet
I don’t think I’ve ever “WITNESSED” a quiet, Quicken Arena.
Need to keep the lead in the second half
’cause I fear what is going to happen if it gets close again and we have to do that half-court biz all over again.
But you know
I’m quite happy with Woody tonight. He was peeved with that last shot by Jamal, and I could hear him shouting at Marvin to get outside on Bron before that last three.
Jamal takes every last possession shot and he misses every damn one of them.
and i am getting sick of it.
That's how gets his reputation for being "clutch"
He makes a lot of those late shots by virtue of taking a TON of them.
they need to stick to their style of play
And keep rattling shaw with Collins and play their style like I said. keep passing and no one on one
by Hawksgirl on Dec 30, 2009 8:21 PM EST via mobile reply actions
espn
i’m still pissed at the national media for making it seem like last night’s game proved that we suck…. it was just one game. in a best of seven, we could (and maybe would) take these guys.
everytime has their bad days
But esp will forever find something bad to say, that’s why I barely watch games on it or visit the site.

BIBBY knows basketball
You know he IS technically correct about every call
by Hawksgirl on Dec 30, 2009 8:43 PM EST via mobile reply actions
How many times to we have to say that Bibby knows all things basketball?
Lol!!! Clearly not clear path……Maalik….where are you? I want to lodge a complaint!
oh
now you want me I told you this would happen
Zaza had a clean look at a layup and just missed it...
although, I guess technically that’s a jumpshot for Zaza.
all these no calls
Refs know they sacking but come on hawks lets make a run of our own

We right inside when things stagnated

Long time no see. can I see teague please……………
by Hawksgirl on Dec 30, 2009 8:53 PM EST via mobile reply actions
More confident now than I was at halftime
Hawks survived the 10-0 run and stretch the lead back out. I feel like they’ve weathered the storm a bit.
like the refs always do...
theyre doing everything in their power to help david stern’s crown jewel win
Atlanta is one of the better TV markets for the NBA
If you go by Nielson ratings.
I think it’s actually in the BEST interest of the NBA for Atlanta to have a strong team.
woody coaching. in Marvin face, nice
But hawks need to overcome the lack of calls and start makin plays
by Hawksgirl on Dec 30, 2009 9:01 PM EST via mobile reply actions
Wow! That was a foul on Marvin but not on LeBron when he literally ran over Smoove...
Refs, the Cavs don’t need your help. They’re more than capable of winning on their own.
refs give them a foul everytime we make a big bucket
Gotta get through this hawks! lets go
by Hawksgirl on Dec 30, 2009 9:14 PM EST via mobile reply actions
so why
don’t you belive me, I’m trying to tell you that.
right here
I’m more tired of the Cavs cheating than you guys are, you’ve only had them 2 games, I’m watching them all year, they do it every single game
He was playing Mario D
i.e. jumping all around and waving his arms and thinking that counts as D
these refs are bs
No excuses tonight were playing great but can’t get a call……………….
by Hawksgirl on Dec 30, 2009 9:20 PM EST via mobile reply actions
It's not all about the officials.
Every time the Hawks lose, it’s the refs? Or is it that every time the Cavs win it’s the refs?
Refs can't blow a 14 pt. lead
We’re not talking about a 2 or 3 or even a 5 point swing here.
No, but the entire way that the game is played is altered by the fact
that Cleveland can play defense with no fear of being whistled. They can clutch, grab, reach, bang and bump on defense without concern. Makes them a lot more effective as a defensive team.
Tim Donaghy lives!
It must be incredibly liberating to be able to know that you can do whatever you want on defense without any worry about being called for a foul.
This game should be played under protest.
so it ain't the refs?
I admit some times it ain’t but tonight it is a bit
by Hawksgirl on Dec 30, 2009 9:27 PM EST via mobile reply actions
This is criminal, should be played under protest,
but the good thing is, we know that the Hawks are the better team, and will win if these two match up in the playoffs.
PURE FUCKING LUCK
that fucking scrub along with that fucking scrub who cannot even beat his sister at 1 on 1…fucking ridiculous
Refs an FG%
I bet the refs helped Anderson Varejao hit the first 3 of his career with their magic powers.
What was the luckier shot?
Sideshow bob with the miracle heave, or that bullshit overhead crap that that poor man’s reggie miller threw up?
hawks need to protest this game
and if david stern doesn’t give it to them, i am officially accepting the lebron-stern conspiracy as complete fact
yes
its a fact, I wouldn’t be on here if it wasn’t.
Hawks are the better team, fwiw
no matter the outcome tonight, ATL is a better basketball team and will win in the playoffs if these two match up.
Tonight was absolutely criminal and the refs flat out stole the game. Flat out stole it. Criminal.
Hawks are a better team. Al willl learn from this outing and will come back with a vengeance.
Tim Donaghy lives and everyone knows that NBA refs are the biggest criminal entity this side of the mafia. Pathetic and embarrassing for David Stern’s henchmen.

yes, we will be fine
cavs wont get 4 games out 7 if we meet them in the playoffs.
Can I make a suggestion for the game wrap-up
Hawks 101, Clevenland 106 or WTF!
because Kroy "the beerman" Biermann can do it all!
I believe it should be
or Tim Donaghy is alive and well in the NBA.

al horford
will learn to go to the right sometimes in his post game
Atlanta will win a championship....someday
nobody can tell me not to blame the refs
Blown lead or not,………damnmit! but good game hawks. Atleast we know you can compete with them. Wasn’t bad for a loss
by Hawksgirl on Dec 30, 2009 9:37 PM EST via mobile reply actions
Hawks are way past moral victories
they are a better team than everyone in the East except for Orlando. Should have won tonight, plain and simple.
Crybabies
It’s not about the refs. You got beat two nights in a row. You got swept last year.
Game after game, you find a way to lose and the Cavs find a way to win.
Stop blaming the refs and start working on your defensive and tenacity in physical games. This Hawks team would be destroyed if they still called games like they did in the days of Bird and Magic.
It’s called physical basketball. The Hawks need to stop being so soft.
Peace. I’m out.
see
rbu I got your back homie I know what is really going on. the whole 2009-10 cavs season should be under protest
Hawks will win in the playoffs
and Cleveland is the biggest shithole on earth. Sorry you have to live there. Lebron will be an awesome Knick.
Sad fall back.
Every time LeBron whoops a team, their fans start talking about how he’s going to leave.
Yeah, right.
Classless?
I commented about the type of play and physicality of the game, and you insulted the City of Cleveland, said LeBron is going to leave, and unleashed a string of profanity.
Who is the classless one?
Hilarious,
No, I will just talk about how the Hawks are the better basketball team and will win if these two meet in the playoffs. Lebron whipped nobody. Verajoi, the total fucking talentless scrub, new age bill Laimbeer got ONE foul called on him. Candace Parker’s brother made the luckiest shot of his scrub ass life.
It was absolutely criminal tonight, and another example of the mafia that David Stern runs.
And Cleveland is a shit hole.
The Hawks lost...
…because two nights is a row they failed to bring physical intensity the pivotal quarter of the game.
And if you think Varejao is a talentless scrub, you know nothing about PHYSICAL PLAY and the game of basketball, which is clear already by your willingness to blame two embarassing fourth quarter performances on the officiating.
I’m sure Bronn doesn’t think my criticism is that out there.
Oh, and CLEVELAND SUCKS
if I had to live in that bomb shelter, I would think about relocating to Detroit or hang myself. Those are really just two of the BILLION of better options.
Who cares?
This is about basketball, and your team just got punked twice in a row because the Hawks can’t bring it in the 4th.
And I don’t live in the Cleveland area anymore anyway.
You are the punk MFer who comes on another team's board and talks smakc RIGHT
after a bog game like that
THat’s pure trash, you TOOL
Nothing I've said...
…has been smack.
I have not called the Hawks bad, nor insulted the city, nor insulted ANY of you.
go get em rbu
that’s it tell those cheaters what time it is baby I got your back homie
Why don;t you go jackoff to your pics of LeBron in the buff
while you still can, you 45 year loser
Yep, that's why Cleveland...
…has the most unsuccessful record in the world for professional sports championships: because everything is rigged in their favor.
rolls eyes
wrong
its only been rigged since the 2008 season for the Cavs, and they still haven’t won anything. I’ll root for Indians and Browns, but not Cavs because they cheat. Its not about Cleveland, its about LeBron, they cheat for his team blatanly every game.
It's about talent.
LeBron is not a cheater, and that accusation is just a regular poor loser complaint.
the refs are the cheaters
not LeBron, he just goes along with it.
You certainly got a shot-ton of lhelp tonight, my friend
why do you LBJ scores so many more poins at home? every move he makes is a freakin offensive fould
he knows he can;t do that crap on the road
i think you have outstayed your welcome
and i think i know you
Your only reason for ever winning any game, and soon-to-be future Knick, just admitted that the Hawks should have won in a post game interview...
Seriously, where will you go when Lebron leaves for NY??

Again with the Knick stuff...
Give it up.
And he said that the Cavs should have lost because they didn’t play that well overall. Fact is, though, the Hawks played worse.
He wasn’t talking about the officiating. Obviously.
defense and tenacity?!?!
yeah, its alot easier to play good defense when you’re not afraid to get a whistle, like the cavs. Varejao is one of the dirtiest players in the NBA and yet he didn’t get his first foul tonight until the 4th quarter, ridiculous. and when atlanta cant even think about playing defense on lebron without getting a foul, it makes it alot easier for him to score 50. face it, dude, the refs blew tonight, the hawks were playing just as physical as the cavs, like you said they should, but they had at least twice as many fouls called against them. When Lebron shoots more FT’s THAN AN ENTIRE FUCKING BASKETBALL TEAM, you have to think something isn’t right, cleveland fan or not.
We overcame a 17 point deficit
Officiating can’t do that for us. We clamped down on you in the 4th quarter once again.
+1
If Woodson blamed the refs, the Hawks would never get any better. Good thing he’s smarter than many of these fans.
wrong buddy
the fans have a different role to play than the coach, don’t compare the two and go take a time machine back to 1964 while you’re at it
you can say what you want cavs fans
but if you have ever played basketball you would know that the momentum shift (and lead change) caused by your score keeper cheating blew the game.
If you have ever played basketball
You would know that the momentum shift was caused by our run in the third quarter which cut it to 76-74
Just take a hke
None of us are in the mood to discuss stuff with you people after your linebacker ran over our defenders every freaking chance he got
and then your refs screwed su even further
so just go on, have a nice night, Ok?
Shot selection
fact of the matter was the hawks were shooting jumpers and the cavs were attacking the basket.
Thats were the foul disparity lies,
I agree that there were some weird calls like that phanton offensive foul call, but over 99% of the time the refs were correct
and to say that everytime lebron drives is an offensive foul is crazy as is to believe in lebron stern bullshit
Good game tough loss for the hawks. Good teams find ways to win not lose
You did come back, with a small, but considerable help of an abundance of no-calls (the refs just allow the CAVS to be more physical). The Hawks responded when Cleveland took the lead, but getting suprised by a 12 second shot clock with 1:30 left and a 1point lead is just outrageous. A sea of momentum was lost right there, and no one can stand right back up after getting r*ped like that…

just sucks
that Lebron takes more FTs then the whole team i mean WTF is that we could have atleast gotten 1 or 2 of those touch fouls Lebron lives on
agressive
sometimes refs anticipate fouls.. but over all, lbj is more aggresive… good game though
its not about aggression nothing about aggression. because the refs can ultimately affect that when you are continuously getting hit and nothing happens your going to stop being so aggresive
refs control everything
its time for the fans to step up and end this game rigging.
nice game
better than yesterday… shot clock malfunction is inconsequential, josh smith lost the ball with plenty of time left. move on…
Very consequential...changed our whole offense on that possession
We were rushing…plus we used a timeout to point out the obvious error.
shut the fuck up
i’m not one to cry about the refs, but this shit was just ridiculous tonight!!
by Anonymous HawksGuy on Dec 30, 2009 9:45 PM EST up reply actions
exactly
I’m seeing 35 FT to 15, two techs for Bibby and Smith. What other bogus calls. LeBron with 16FT Hawks with 15 I told you this would happen. You have to protest and let the league know how you feel, otherwise it will keep happening.
what happened
I missed the game because it wasn’t on tv. what were the questionable calls. let me know what happened guys I support your Hawks 100%
there were so many
its hard to come down to a few, just a night full of hawks getting knocked down with no whistles yet they were still making baskets, and lebron with his phantom fouls like he gets every night, i mean, jamal crawford got 2 fouls on lebron and i didnt even know jamal crawford played well enough defense to get close enough to someone to foul them, but in all seriousness, it was real garbage tonight.
ROBBED!!!!!
nothing else to discuss!!
by Anonymous HawksGuy on Dec 30, 2009 9:44 PM EST reply actions
exactly how
I want to know exactly how so I can warn other teams when they play the Cavs, because I know this has been happening for the past 3 years with this team, they cheat every game.
I can't WAIT for the playoffs now
After this, the Hawks should have more than enough anger to beat the Cavs ass in the playoffs!!!
by Anonymous HawksGuy on Dec 30, 2009 9:47 PM EST up reply actions
the clock operator didn't reset the clock for the hawks late
the hawks shot well fewer free throws, lebron got every call except one, and josh smith missed a jumper late
Atlanta will win a championship....someday
yes I knew it
I knew there would be a clock cheat in this game.
clock cheat
there was a 3 second clock cheat in the Bucks Cavs game too of course for the Cavs
yep
this one was more like a 10 second cheat. The Hawks were up 1 with less than 2 minutes to play. they had just got the rebound and only had 14 seconds on the clock instead of 24, so when Bibby got the ball to half court, it was only 4 seconds left, so the hawks had to rush a bad shot b/c the refs cheated and claimed they didnt notice the shot clock, THAT’S PART OF THEIR FUCKIN JOB!!! And they didn’t even wanna go and look at the replay of the malfunction!
This game should really be investigated, i’m so fuckin pissed how we were robbed tonight!
by Anonymous HawksGuy on Dec 30, 2009 9:54 PM EST up reply actions

I know
it doesn’t make any sense, that is why I tried to warn you guys last night before the game, look at what I posted on the power rankings before yesterday’s game started. I told you exactly how they would cheat for the Cavs.
This was a better played game for the hawks
Although they had some silly turnovers and some bad shots here and there, they played well enough to win again. This game is a travesty in terms of foul calls for another team
Atlanta will win a championship....someday
You can't blame this on Joe
and I have to say you can see why we ran the same damn play 10 straight possessions
i know bein aggresive is one thing but not getting calls is another
Lebron 15 – 16 FT
Hawks 14 – 15 FT
if you actually watched the game from both sides you would know why the refs bullied us out this game
Say what you want about lebron but you know smoove had him tonight and the refs felt sympathetic. don’t even come with that crap. last night wasn’t the refs completely but tonight I swore they gave lebron his bday gift
by Hawksgirl on Dec 30, 2009 9:47 PM EST via mobile reply actions

rbu so are we boys now, I’ve been agreeing with you all along, I knew this would happen.
If Hawks need a lawyer to file their appeal, I'm game...
Already researching the Miami-ATL replay from last year
Hawks need to learn how to deal with this BS
cause it will be the very same in the playoffs if not worse
...
Blazers fan here…
Just got done watching the game and after looking at the stats and seeing Lebron shot more free throws than your entire team… quite an interesting stat.
Hawks take a lot of jump shots (so do the blazers) but for a team to shoot twice as many and one player shoot more free throws than an entire team… don’t know what to say.
Hope for the best.

I didn’t see the game, only reading posts, what about the shot clock mishap with Bibby in the 4th.
Are you an idiot?
They ruled his foot was on the line, and then after replays turned the call over because THEY ALL SHOWED HE WAS CLEARLY BEHIND THE LINE.
You guys are such crybabies, yeesh. Reminds me of the clear path foul complaint yesterday.

idk just weird
a guy who is averaging 3 fouls a game only gets 1 tonight and hes bein so physical right
The Hawks have no reason to hang their heads
I don’t know if you guys are aware of this, but the ref that’s involved in this game is the same ref that ’s involved in the current protest by the Mavs. He called a 2nd tech on Dampier that got him ejected from the game.
see you have to pay attention
and that is the only reason the Mavs beat the Cavs the next night, becuase Mark Cuban protested the game before. That is what you have to do, the league is favoring the Cavs very very heavy
Between that and the razor thin Varejao 3
I question the guy. I’m not sure if NBA requires indisputable evidence like the NFL, but I didn’t see any on the Varejao 3
I saw the replay, his foot was clearly behind the line
for his first 3 EVER
ok
but the shot clock was wrong with Bibby, you have to make sure the call is 100% incorrect first.
Cool...
I heard Nique talking about the overhead shot, but never saw it. Between you and Nique, I’ll trust y’all
Hawks still have a lot to work on in closing out games, man
never ever should have let the refs give it to them
it is the same
when a team has 10 seconds less to shoot when they are up by one point with 1:30 remaining in the game is a HUGE difference, not having shaq for 50 sconds at the end of the game is not as big of a deal AT ALL, GTFO of here already you stupid douchebag, go choke on lebrons dick you cleveland faget
No, it's not the same...
but it was the last replay game, and the NBA’s quote is helpful – “Because of this conduct by Atlanta’s personnel, Miami suffered a clear competitive disadvantage, as O’Neal — the Heat’s second-leading scorer and rebounder that night — was removed from a one-point game with only 51.9 seconds remaining.” I think the same could be said for this game…we lost a possession and suffered a clear competitive disadvantage in the last 2 minutes of a game we were leading.
it is the same....
you dumb fuck, it caused a competitive disadvantage for the Hawks in a critical moment of the game. Find another blog to comment on you fuckin dumb truck!

Dumb fuck?
No, removing a player FROM THE GAME, especially one like Shaq, is NOT THE SAME as the idea that MAYBE the Hawks would have taken a different shot (and MAYBE make it) if the shot clock was correct.
How can you not see that? One changes the players on the floor (and the ones available for the remainder of the game) and the other MAYBE changes the shot selection… MAYBE.
Come on.
WTF DO YOU NOT GET YOU CLEVELAND RETARD
HAVING 10 FUCKING SECONDS LESS TO SHOOT ON OFFENSE COMPLETELY CHANGES THE GAME, ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS A 1 POINT GAME WITH 2 MINUTES LEFT. GET A CLUE TOOL
They didn't have 10 seconds left to shoot.
The refs keep the official time. The Hawks arguably should know how much time they have. They didn’t have shot clocks back in the day. Or didn’t you know that?
sorry 1964
this is 100% cheating. they took a possible 10 seconds of the clock from a team that is winning with less than 2 minutes to play.
And when the league disagrees...
…then they’ll be cheaters too, because clearly they are fixing everything for Cleveland, the winningest city in sports history.
no 1964-2008
means nothing, its 2008-2010 favoring for the Cavs, every other thing that happend in Cleveland means nothing. They’re not cheating for the Indians or Browns.
Yeah, they're only cheating...
…when it’s your team losing to Cleveland. I get it now.
It couldn’t be that the Cavs have arguably the best player in the game playing with a much improved starting cast against a weaker team that can’t hold fourth quarter leads.
It was all about a shot clock error, cheating, and refs. Clearly.
whatever. hope you have enough money from your job at the tire factory to buy a lebron james knicks jersey next year. peace
Again with the Knicks
LeBron is on the Cavs, and the Cavs beat you for the 6th time in a row. Accept it.
And I live and work in DC, smart guy.
thats funny
so youre a bandwagon lebron fan not even from cleveland. this is getting better. i actually live in chinatown (you know, near where the wizards play). maybe we can meet up and watch the last five mins of that game so i can explain to you in person what cheating and BS looks like.
Wrong.
I’m 25, from Cleveland, a graduate of Oberlin, and I moved here for grad school.
Sorry to disappoint, but I paid to watch Brevin Knight and Shawn Kemp play and remember watching Price and Daugherty when I was four.
Actually
we were winning when the shot clock “malfunctioned”. Did i ever tell you that you are a dumb fuck?

Better than a classless loser
“Waaaaaaaaaaaa!” – Anonymous HawksGuy
again with the refs...
what does the refs keeping the official time have to do with WHAT THE PLAYERS SEE AND THINK WHAT THE SHOT CLOCK IS, and do you really think any professional athlete in any sport is constantly keeping track of the time of the game in his head? you know, cuz athletes are just so great with numbers, all those athlete mathmeticians. bottom line: im not saying the cavs scoring staff cheated, but making an error THAT AFFECTS THE OUTCOME OF A GAME is warrant enough for a replay, juts like last year
wow, you really are a dumb fuck....
Are you not understanding the term “competitive disadvantage”? If not…..i’m not gonna break it down for you, i’ll let you remain to look like a dummy. In a simpler term for dumb people, if a team is at a DISADVANTAGE because of a particular, the time transpired is replayed in NBA, as stated above, Hawks-Heat game last year……
by Anonymous HawksGuy on Dec 30, 2009 10:16 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah, and that accounts...
For blowing the huge lead.
Maybe ATL shouldn’t have been in that situation if they played well in the 4th, but let’s ignore that and focus on one single moment that only MAYBE would have made a difference.
means nothing
cheating is cheating, doesn’t matter if a team made or missed shots.
Blew huge lead.
Focus on that.
Shouldn’t have been a 1 point game.
Don't excuse poor play.
That’s two nights of ineptitude in the 4th for the Hawks.
The refs didn’t blow your 14 point lead or use telekinesis to put Andy’s first three of his career in the hole.
Actually
the refs blew the 14 point lead, prime example, non-foul calls and the fouls calls against the Hawks. LBJ’s dick must taste real good in ya mouth right now….

Were it not for free throws
Cavs wouldn’t have been in the game at all. The game was just bullshit all the way around. But hey, you root for the Cavs so you can’t see that.
Rewatch every play.
None of those were clean blocks. Are you complaining that they called fouls on people when they, you know, FOULED LeBron? They were all fouls.
How about the fouls
they didn’t call for Atlanta? The whistle was only on one end of the court. I’m not going to argue with you about this. The numbers speak for themselves. The Hawks were driving and hell Bibby and Jamal got flipped over a couple of times, but they’re obviously just clumsy.
What about the fouls they didn't call
the OTHER times you hacked Shaq, or bodied Mo in the lane onto his back?
Hawks fouled the Cavs more than the Cavs fouled the Hawks.
How can you complain about fouls
when you shot that many free throws??? Okay I’m done. Go back to your team’s board.
Oh you mean the ones
where you shot 35 free throws and we shot 15, you fucking dicksucking moron??
Also...
All of your rage makes you all look really weak. I’m not even trying to be a troll, but if I was, you’d be feeding me.
Calm down.
You don't think showing up here to gloat after a game like that is not trolling???
Then what the hell is it? Just being a jerk in general, I guess?? TOOL.
Great point...
didn’t think of that (although, no guarantee Hawks run shot clock to 1…but I get the point). Also, by the shot clock, they should have called an 8 second halfcourt violation on the Hawks
so the hawks miswrite a number next to a players name and get fined $50,000
if david stern doesnt at least give us a replay, with or without the fine to the cavs, I am boycotting the NBA until he is no longer commissioner
well it doesnt matter
because the cavs are never going to win a championship with lebron. have fun cheating your way to a 2nd round playoff exit.
How do we dispute this?
As fans, do we have any power to help get this disputed?
by Anonymous HawksGuy on Dec 30, 2009 10:04 PM EST reply actions
I'm playing my part
I’m trying to dispute this every night, they cheat every game for the Cavs, glad I’m not the only one who realizes it.
Look, I'm all about "bad calls"...
but poor officiating does not equal cheating. When Hawks get the call (which we do at times), I happily take it as a nice little gift. What are the Cavs supposed to do? Decline the fouls.
it's more than "bad calls"
when you take 10 seconds off a shot clock and a team has to rush a shot at a VERY critical time of the game, it gives a team (THE HAWKS) a competitive disadvantage, which is why the Hawks-Heat game from last year had to replay the last minute. This shit tonight was cheating! The refs didn’t even gather by the screen to look at the play!! Didn’t have shit to do w/ fouls playa!
by Anonymous HawksGuy on Dec 30, 2009 10:12 PM EST up reply actions
who shot the ball
and what time exactly was it in the box score so I can check the box score. I belive you. I just want definite proof because I know it has been there all along with the Cavs now for 3 years.
You do realize...
…that the refs keep the real time. The Hawks didn’t “have to” do anything. It was a scoreboard error, not an officiating error.
good point
they stopped play in LA before the game was decided to make sure the clock was right for the Lakers
by cavslandrocks on Dec 30, 2009 10:20 PM EST up reply actions
but that was because Jackson asked them to…last night , Woodson was too caught up in the game to notice…maybe he should try to pay attention to the play at hand instead of whining about the one 2 minutes ago…just a thought
by cavslandrocks on Dec 31, 2009 3:19 PM EST up reply actions
doesn't matter
who’s error it is, its cheating. its against the rules. and I’m 100% sure they did it on purpose too.
you do realize...
that the only the refs, not the players keep the real time, so if the players THINK there are less seconds on the shot clock because that is what they SEE, then it affects the game, the refs shoud have stopped play immediately after noticing the error, yet they didn’t either because they were cheating or becuase they weren’t doing their job properly. Whatever situation it is, cheating or no cheating, it still warrants a replay
This
I’ve seen them do that in Atlanta when the shot clock wasn’t working and the team was halfway down the court.
You’re absolutely right…refs should have been on top of this and looking at the clock. In fact, if they had bothered to look at the shot clock when the Hawks were near halfcourt, play would have stopped because the Hawks were way past an 8 second violation by the shot clock.
dumb fuck
It’s the officials job to pay attention to the shot clock as well. There have been many games when the official will put time back on the shotclock because of a shot clock error. The refs should have caught it tonight and gave the Hawks their 10 seconds back. Dude, why am i debating w/ your biased ass comments? Please go back to your tire factory and make you 8.18/hr.

You idiot, the players go by the scoreboard
and if the clock is wrong play has to be stopped.
You’ve been watching too much footie, apparently.
if
they are ignoring rules in the rulebook it is cheating. I’m not saying it is Mike Brown or the Cavs players, it is the league and the refs.
the point is
that the scorekeeper in cleveland, who is EMPLOYED by the cavalier organization, failed to reset the shot clock. i believe that is cheating. the refs should have caught the error but they are dumb as hell and you cant expect them to do anything during the game except slobber over lebron james. i mean, why would you pay attention to the game as an NBA ref when lebron james is playing?? it was his birthday too! did you see those hats he was wearing?
refs are very smart
they are not dumb, they are very smart, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to pull off the cheating.
good point
i take back part of my above comment. thanks
I was talking more about the foul calls...
I’m not sure who to blame for the shot clock mess. When Shaq got the extra foul in the Hawks/Heat protest…were we trying cheat? I’m not sure. It was a bad mistake that should be corrected, but I don’t believe there’s a cheating conspiracy that the Cavs are actively in on.
On another note, I hated the celebrating and hats…another reason Lebron will never equal MJ in my mind. Such an attention whore
yeah...
like MJ wasn’t an attention whore…he was just as bad as lebron when he was playing, everyones just forgotten now that he’s retired. its not lebrons fault for embracing what he’s got, which is the NBA slobbering all over his dick 24/7
Yeah, I was younger with MJ and there wasn't 24/7 sports coverage...
but I just don’t remember him doing the in your face “notice me” things on the court (i.e. birthday hats, dancing during a blowout win, throwing chalk all over everyone)
Are you kidding?
MJ has the biggest ego in sports. Still does. Deservedly, but still.
but he did
you guys need to stop acting like MJ was this couragous, humble team first player and realize the facts. MJ was selfish, loud, obnoxious, and was good enough to get away with it, just like Lebron. MJ was always told he was the best in the game, just like Lebron, and just like Lebron, he flaunted it just as much, if not more, the only difference was the NBA wasn’t the marketing juggernaut back then that it is today. And if any of us were in Lebron’s shoes we would all do the exact same thing, don’t lie
maxx3, I am almost ready to say we can win
but you gotta admit we choked it away for the same reasons
this game probably will be replayed
if the replay of the clock is clear. Until then the hawks should forget it and play mad every game and win
Atlanta will win a championship....someday
as much as we want it to be
it wont be replayed. trust me on this. why would david stern allow lebron to lose another game?
I have to go out
will resume this talk later with ya’ll mad respect for the dirty dirty ATL all the way baby!!
You know...
…some of us come over here just to chat and see what other fans are thinking.
Then we see you guys say that our team sucks, that we cheat, that Cleveland is favored by sports leagues, that Varejao is untalented, etc., and we feel the need to defend our team.
That’s fair, right?
Apparently not, because most of you feel the need to call anyone who supports another team “retarded,” “dick-sucking,” “dumb fucks” who live in a “shithole” and should kiss LeBron goodbye.
So much for civility.
yeah.....and you pick the perfect time to "just chat and see what other fans are thinking"
You KNEW that Hawks fans would be pissed after game, so you come in our blog to add fuel to the fire? You knew EXACTLY what to expect! I’m not usually the one to post such heated posts, but fuck that and fuck you and the rest of you who come in here for some “civility” after tonight’s game…

No kidding.
You didn’t think we might be a tadbit upset after a game like that??? You know, just after it ended and all? You’re a disingenuous jerk, and people like you should be denied passwords. I don’t like to get all foul like this, but fans like you deserve every single bit of the wrath you get. You came here to rub it in. Don’t even pretend otherwise.
If you keep coming back and timing this the same way you are sure to be banned.
The last ~2 min of this game stand a good chance to be replayed.....
…I believe if the protest is thorough enough, it will happen. Not sure if it will change the outcome, but we’re likely to see those minutes replayed. If not, the fix is most certainly in.
Did they replay the last ten seconds of Dallas-Denver playoffs last year when the NBA admitted the ref blew a call?
by cavslandrocks on Dec 30, 2009 10:44 PM EST up reply actions
I remember that play. If that was intentionally trying to foul, why did he pull his hand back as if to say, I didn't foul him.
That’s the only reason I agreed with the no call in that situation.
but still the League office said the ref screwed up and sorry Dallas but oh well…..I’m not gonna get into the “did you get homered fray”? because I can’t be objective but Cavs fans do know how it feels….It happens to all teams
by cavslandrocks on Dec 30, 2009 10:50 PM EST up reply actions
That was a judgement call.....
….this was a clock error in a pivotal situation. Very similar situation to when the scorer fouled Shaq out in the Miami-Atlanta game in 2007 causing a replay later in the year. Judgement calls do not get replayed.
Yep
My one concern is that the league won’t do anything because it might create a slippery slope for appeals. I’ve seen it before where the shot clock messed up or stopped working (not in crunch time and not when the play continued), and the league doesn’t want a replay for every two point game where there was a shot clock problem in the 1st quarter. (Of course, I’ve seen fouls called on the wrong guys plenty times too.)
I think it all depends on whether the league can limit the decision (i.e. to shot clock problems in crunch time that only effected one team )or if Cleveland has had a similar problem in the past. Otherwise, I think we lose the protest
The amount of time left in the game when it happened....
…is paramount to the protest being filed in the first place. I don’t think Woody would have batted an eye at it if it happened in the first quarter. I’m not sure it would have even been a big deal if it had happened early in the 4th. But inside of 2 minutes is a different story.
By the way.....
…many of the comments of Hawks fans tonight on this board are really embarrassing. Way too many F words and taking the bait from Cavs trolls.
what the F you expect?
you have a ton of pissed off fans who saw the Hawks beat the Cavs all game, but robbed by the refs, LET US VENT!!! Right now isn’t the time to be cordial, especially when ppl are adding fuel to the fire!!!

….I long for the day when the Hawks get the same type of respect from officials as Cleveland, Boston and the Lakers do. It sucks that the league is run this way, but the only choice we really have is to just live with it.
Respect is actually the wrong word....
…preferential treatment probably is a more apt phrase.

jjdawg
thanks for calming me down, i finally realized how much i was feeding the troll, but i am SERIOUSLY pissed about tonights game. This is my official apology to anyone offended by my previous posts, I just love my Hawks too damn much.
If you've watched Lebron play enough.....
…you know that this is the way it is for him anyway. You cannot go into the last 3-4 minutes against the Cavs with a slim lead. You need to be up double digits just to give yourself a chance to win a close game.
You can really tell the Hawks have a legitimate gripe because
I have never seen so many F-bombs dropped on one thread. I thought I was reading blogabull. That being said…I’m made a hell right now.
At the end of the day all you'll hear about is how the Cavs rallied from a 17 point deficit to defeat the Hawks yet again
Lost in that will be a tiny blurb about the protest that Woody intends to file.
It seems you're right.....
…..the AJC story and the ESPN recap both make no mention of the shot clock error. Even though it was pretty much all Woody talked about in his post game interview. The recap on Peachtree Hoops didn’t even make mention of it. Strange.
Strange???
Why do you think we’re all so upset??? Just got majorly jobbed…
and then these idiot trolls come around to rub it in.
They hope if they don't talk about it, it will go away
The league will find a way to not grant a replay. We may as well prepare ourselves for it. The Cavs got all the breaks tonight and they’ll get another break on the protest.
Its true
Wow Cavs really did cheat, that’s crazy I knew it would happen, but this time everyone else is figuring it out:
“Atlanta coach Mike Woodson plans to file a protest with the league, contesting that the Hawks were robbed of a late possession by a shot-clock problem.
Woodson, who spent much of the night complaining about calls and non-calls, was annoyed that the officials did not notice that the 24-second shot clock was not reset following a miss by the Cavaliers with 1:56 left. The Hawks, who were leading 99-98, ended up not getting their allotted time and committed a costly turnover while rushing to get a shot off."
Ok now even though I let you know about this before yesterday’s game, and fought hard to tell you how the clear path foul last night was bs, this takes the cake. Now I see it in the boxscore.
Here is the thing. The Cavs scorekeeper & the refs did it 100% on purpose. They are not going to tell you that. I’ve never even heard of something like this happening under 2 minutes. They did it in the Bucks Cavs game 2 weeks back 85-82. After the Bucks scored with under w minutes left in the 4th, the Cavs scorekeeper ran 3-4 illegal seconds on the clock. Scott Skiles was aware of it and was fuming on the Bucks sideline. So now its happened twice. Its 100% cheating, and they knew they were going to do it.
2 minutes
With the Bucks game incident it happened just under 2 minutes, the Bucks scored, yet they scorekeeper ran 3-4 seconds off of the clock. Skiles was fuming, he went over to the refs and they denied his request. The announcers kind of acted like they knew what was going on, but when they commented on it they turned a blind eye and said they weren’t sure exactly what Skiles was talking about.
It wasn’t in the post game, it wasn’t on the replay, no announcer admitted it, and no ESPN anylyst will admit it either. Its only something you pick up on when you watch the games, knowing they are rigging it for the Cavs.
Yet it was there, the Bucks lost 3-4 seconds for no reason. And guess what happened. Delfino picked up a loose ball as time expired. They could have had 3 seconds left in a fair contest. However that doesn’t happen when you play the Cavs.
First of all
You have to admit when you don’t feel the game was called correctly. Because if you keep believing the calls are “fair” and the refs are “human” you are cheating yourself. Once you realize the games are rigged, and admit it, they are much easier to watch because you can see the little things here and there that pushes a team to victory. So its better to admit, then keep denying these things happen.
Cavs will get calls in 70-75 games this year
That is how it was last year, that is how it is this year. No team gets calls over the Cavs. Nobody. The Lakers get some calls, but once they play the Cavs it doesn’t happen.
No other team really gets favorable calls. They may get them one night, but won’t the next. Cavs are the only team to get favorable calls almost every game. Boston gets it close to the worst with Orlando and other teams like the Bucks Kings Blazers etc getting the worst of the calls.
Now notice how the Cavs are always dancing doing photo shoots, tonight was the birthday thing. Do you know why they do it so much? Because they know if they “act” like they are enjoying themselves and having fun they will get calls. That is what the game has come down to. Its not basketball anymore. Its acting. And if you act like you are having fun and smiling you will get calls. That is why the Cavs do it. And its only Mo, LeBron and Varrejeo who play along, the other Cavs players are all regular players.
Mo, LeBron and Varejeo complain very hard on calls that they are 100% wrong on. They will complain harder on a call they are wrong on then another player on an opposing team, and Mo & Co. won’t get the techincal, the other team will. Have you ever seen the way they act when they don’t get the call? And they never get a T for it.
shot clock
You only make shot clock errors like that with 2 minutes to go in a close game if you intended 100% to do it. That’s not a mistake. It was premeditated. They were looking all game to do something like that, and once the Hawks were close to winning, they were ready for the cheat. Cavs knew they were going to lose, and the better you play against the Cavs, the more ridiculous the calls against you will go. That was the Cavs last chance to win on LeBron’s birthday. Mess with the shot clock. And they did it 100% on purpose with the refs giving a wink wink. Anyone who thinks otherwise is living in a delusional world.
I called it
Look people I hope the Hawks win tonight I will be rooting for them.
