Hawks Injury Report: None.

Nuggets Injury Report: Kenyon Martin is out with a leg contusion. Probably the most painful sounding injury that happens regularly in sports. JR Smith is suspended.

Blogging With the Enemy: Denver Stiffs

Predicted bane of the Hawks existence: Mr. Big Shot

Game Preview:

I have an inflated view of Chauncey Billups. So anytime he plays the Hawks, I am filled with fear and dread. So today has been a lovely Saturday of vivid images of Mr. Billups reigning threes and acting like it is no big deal.

But for normal people, this game represents a challenge for the Hawks that they could easily meet. The Hawks return to the comfort confines of Philips Arena. Both teams are coming off back to backs. But luckily for Atlanta, the Hawks did not play hard when they were in subsequently did not need to play for very long. And only one rebounding machine is available for the Nuggest since Kenyon Martin is out.

Denver can score, and they can score in bunches. Carmelo Anthony apparently grew tired of being really good over the summer and decided to become awesome. So far in this young season, it is tough to get a feel for how good or bad the Hawks are on defense. It will be interesting to see how much the Hawks' defense just rises to tougher competition, is unlucky playing against hot shooters, or represents a serious weakness for the team. Because if it is a plain, old weakness, expect the Nuggets to bounce back from their poor showing last night and put up a serious number.

Coming off last night, this game seems a bit hopeless. But as the guys at Denver Stiff's point out, the Nuggets had a very similar effort (against a better team but whatever). NBA teams lay eggs. The professional part of the game means you move on. No reasons the Hawks cannot pull out a win and continue there very acceptable start to the season.

On completely random note, for the basketball fan in all of us, I demand at least 6 minutes of Teague vs. Lawson.

Keys to the game:

  1. Make Melo settle for jumpers. It hurts George Karl's feelings and while Anthony can still fill it up out there, a game of jumpers eliminates many other ways he could hurt you.
  2. Don't let Nene own. I could see it happening, and it would be bad.
  3. Joe Johnson don't be selfish but be good. The Hawks best match up on the floor lies with the Hawks best player. Take advantage but take advantage smartly.

Go Hawks!

Am I the Only One?

Am i the only one that’s getting tired of Joe Johnson already?… He has complained after 3 games about people being selfish and the offense being stagnant. Every time the offensive flow stops is when he touches it. He hold it for a while, then dribbles around, and then decides to pass. Maybe i’m just pissed he turned down 60 mil for the next four years. He is putting some pressure on himself

by BravesFanScout on Nov 7, 2009 8:18 PM EST reply actions

I agree with the you to a certain extent but it may be because he didnt sign. If he was signed it would be like he was saying it for building but since he is testing free agency it seems he wants to find a reason to leave(so i have heard). But i feel he doesnt know how to express himself in words, he is better doing than talking. But ever since he has been here i feel he has the right intentions but isnt the leader we have expected him to be, just like now. He is a non vocal leader….action leader

by Hawksgirl on Nov 7, 2009 8:25 PM EST via mobile reply actions

by Hawksgirl on Nov 7, 2009 9:05 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Great job and comeback win. 5-2.

by Hawksgirl on Nov 7, 2009 9:31 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Well at least...

we’ll get happy Joe tonight. Yeah for Positive Joe.

by Mr. Sanchez on Nov 7, 2009 11:11 PM EST reply actions

well......

We didnt get happy jj, we got a wanting more jj. which is not necessarily bad but not all that good either. its good because he wants “his” time to keep improving and he used “we.” -ts bad because no congrats for the win after gettin overa big loss although i know its early in the season. &e is understandeable but sometimes unbeareable…..its good to hear him say we though rather than I

by Hawksgirl on Nov 7, 2009 11:44 PM EST via mobile reply actions

joe johnson = negative nancy

by BravesFanScout on Nov 7, 2009 11:58 PM EST reply actions

Joe Johnson =

playing his way out of Atlanta. After this mess, why offer him another deal no matter how good our season ends? Let him walk and reinvest the money into the future of the club around Teague, Williams, Smoove, and Horford.

by Mr. Sanchez on Nov 8, 2009 9:42 AM EST up reply actions

Jj is a big part of our offense and chemistry. now that crawford is here he takes a more leader role than just offensive role.
