WOODY D MAN I

Okay everyone...I really considered starting a Woody fan website to solicite for an extension but I really do not have the time so I will be doing a regular Woody update here on why he should be brought back..

Of course I would be biased ( heck everyone else seems to be biased against Woody). So lets start with last night and why I love Woody.

1. YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!!!- Look at the minute  sheet and i am sure most fans would not be happy. 44 mins for Joe and 0 mins for Teague... Well I dont care ..All i care about is the W..Woody played to win the game  and I love him for that.

2. GAME TO GAME ADJUSTMENTS- Getting blown out against Lakers and coming back to have a huge win against the Blazers! That shows the ability of the coach to make adjustments. Kudos to Woody.

3. BAD 1ST QUARTER AND GOOD 2ND HALF... Again you have got to give it to Woody. He even outcoached Nate by forcing him to play a smaller lineup with Aldridge as the center. This played to the Hawks advantage as Horford played good D against Aldridge. Even Roy said after the game that he would have to watch the game tape to look at what the Hawks did to him in the 2nd half that limited his effectiveness. THE GUY DID NOT KNOW WHAT HIT HIM!!

4. COACH TO PLAYERS STRENGTH- Woody tends to coach the team according to the players strenght..Especially veterans that know their roles. Remember Flip last year and Jamal this year. The message from Woody is clear...Play your game ..Do what you are good at. We will coach around it. This worded very well with Flip and it seems to work very well with Jamal.

I noticed that instead of forcing Josh to give up the ball on fast breaks, he always has the guards stand at the 3 point line. Since Josh wants to be a point on fast breaks :). he always  has the option of passing to the 3 point line.

KUDOS TO WOODY>>> GIVE THE GUY AN EXTENSION...HE DESERVES IT !!!!

Go ahead !....Make my Woody.

Ok. Your bending my arm up my back, but go ahead! Convence me! Keep updating. Show me how to love the benchsuits (is that a word?) who have made me beg for a time out while a 12 point lead evaporates to 1. And they just sit there!!…But I just want what’s best for the Hawks, so make me not want another coach.

1. Can’t argue with that because every coach plays to win.

2. The only adjustments from game to game were Crawford making shots he didn’t make before and the world-champion Lakers turning into a decent-but-beatable Blazers team.

3. Everyone in the world knew before the game started that we would be playing to our strengths by pushing the pace against the Blazers. Woody finally realized it midway into the 2nd quarter. Kinda behind the curve there. As for Brandon Roy facing better defense, give credit to Woodson but more credit to Horford and Josh Smith and Joe Johnson.

4. Saying “do what you do” is not too impressive by itself. I guess it could be worse if the coach tries to get players to do things that they cannot do, but I think every coach in the NBA right now is good at #4. I’d want Woodson to develop talent out of Teague and Horford and Marvin and Josh on top of telling Jamal and Joe and Mike and Mo Evans to do what they already know how to do. And I want Woodson to get this team to run better team offense, not ISO-Joes that work 1/3rd of the time.

Right now he is doing a lot, but he is not currently extending my Woody, so I’m not convinced that the Hawks’ Woody should be extended.

So I’m still skeptically holding out.

But it is healthy for someone to be arguing on these discussion boards in his favor. It’s good to hear both sides of a story. Keep it up. I dare you.

Not exactly

In response to your response
1. Not exactly.e.g. Memphis has a better chance of winning with Iverson than Conley but they feel Conley is the future. So they are going to play Conley more.
2. The adjustments were a lot more. Give the guy some credit
3.Blazers have athetes just like the Hawks so pusing the pace it not that obvious.
4. Some coaches have a system and they fit the players into their system.

Conley is a pretty good PG...

at least he showed that the latter half of last year. For their roster, I think he deserves playing time over Iverson. After all, you’d never see fewer passes than putting him, Zeebo Randolph,. and OJ Mayo on the floor together.
