No letdowns.

But I fear this game thread may be. HawksDawgs is doing patronage with the second part of his name today, which leaves the rest of us to carry the game thread.

Early thoughts: You’d think this would be a cinch without Chris Paul, at home, but the Hawks can be alarmingly uneven. As bad as New Orleans was last night, and losing CP3 in the third quarter…they still only lost by 8 points to a good Trailblazers team. This isn’t a game I expect to lose, but they do have players capable of hurting us.

Darren Collison might fill in for Chris Paul-he’s no Chris Paul, obviously, but he’s quick and has solid handles, so he’ll naturally give Bibby problems. David West and Emeka Okafor can give anyone problems in the frontcourt if their on top of their game. And between Peja, MoPete, and James Posey, they’ve got someone capable of getting hot from three, which always ruins your night.

I expect that Bibby will get some rest today, and we’ll see Jamal Crawford get a lot of minutes, and Mo Evans should play a bit more as well.

Teague may get some good minutes tonight. At least he should.

Hey, leave me alone!

Corey Zickefoose: I think they should still be able to play football, regardless. Tennessee is my place. You know, it's my football team.

Reporter: Even after they put a gun in your face, you say let them play football?

Corey Zickefoose: Yeah. It's Tennessee. That's the way it is sometimes.

Duff

Just go watch Stomp The Yard. While extremely exaggerated, it’ll give you a good idea.

Haha, you're cruel man

It’s a fraternity thing. Each one has a team and they have competitions. I wouldn’t go so far as to put it into the same category as cheerleading, but as far as the structure of it, I guess I could see that point of view.

by Erihury on Nov 14, 2009 7:27 PM EST up reply actions

meh

NO is so far over the luxury threshold, money clearly is no problem for them. Or, that might be why their GM is now the Coach so they wouldn’t have to spend more money for a new coach.

Bibby looks like he is so much mor comfortable this year.

He’s minimizing his weaknesses and just playing to his strengths. Credit Woody so far as well for rotating him in and out at the right times.

It’s been that kind of game.

I'm completely opposite on that

But I love all my ATL teams equally. I hate living away, but it makes it easier when deciding which games to attend, meaning I barely get to any at all.

The stats don’t lie.

by eyy on Nov 14, 2009 9:24 PM EST reply actions

Not true

It only proves that the +/- stat is lame.

I didn't even mean that

+/- definitely has its place. But the random game-to-game variation will never stop amusing me.

by eyy on Nov 15, 2009 1:07 AM EST up reply actions

true

But unfortunately some people like to throw +/- numbers around and leave it at that, like it’s some definitive measure of a players value on the court when it truly isn’t. In fact, using individual player +/- numbers without any context is probably the worst way to evaluate a player.

A better use of +/- is the five-man rotation +/- numbers. These allow you to truly see the value in players together at the same time on the court.

Corey Zickefoose: I think they should still be able to play football, regardless. Tennessee is my place. You know, it's my football team.
