Is Tony Delk Interested in a Coaching Job?
Assistant coach, I mean. Not everything's a dig at Woodson. Granted, it's far simpler to be honest, intelligent, and insightful in one's public comments when you're an outsider, but I still found Tony Delk's comments as reported in Sekou Smith's blog entry this morning to be impressive:
"...if they stay healthy, both Acie [Law IV] and Speedy [Claxton] have really showed me something. I think they can help this team in ways that neither one of them did last year for reasons that were largely out of their control. When you look at how little Acie played last year and the fact that Speedy was out all year, it’s like having two new players this season without having to go out and sign them. Acie is physical and has that size to work with, all he needs is time on the floor. And Speedy’s got his bounce, his quickness and his outside shot has been as good as I can remember. That’s invaluable when you’re in the place the Hawks are right now."
I think the entirety of Delk's comments are worth a read and not just because this time of year I'm hard up for any plausibly intelligent commentary regarding the Hawks.
